With such little time on the clock there is no doubt in mind that Pierce should be inbounding to Rondo.

Rondo has the best chance on this team to create something that quickly, most likely an open jumper for someone at worst.

Also... what was with the KG/PP/RA/AB/Rondo line up at the very end of the game when we needed rebounds badly.  Not getting rebounds kills us again.

If Doc's rotation solution is small ball, I think we are going to lose a lot of games. Yes, it worked ok tonight, but the Celtics did not win. You knew Duncan was getting that offensive rebound.

Poor Steamer. Another River's rookie casualty. Sorry big guy, rebounds and great defense are not needed in the NBA.

Steimsma was terrible tonigh.

It's infuriating seeing this team get destroyed on the glass night after night. Wins would come easier if they were a halfway decent rebounding team.

This.

Spurs play small a ton especially with bonner. This was a good game to try it some. I doubt you'll see it against the bulls

While a lot of the chat is focusing on the closing minutes, Id like to go back to the 1st Qtr, where the Celtics fell behind early. A return to the script of the early season, unlike the recent string of wins, which ABs speed and D proved so valuable. Just sayin'

Sometimes I wish Doc was more reactionary.

Avery Bradley could probably score 40 and Doc would probably not react.

What more could Avery possibly do to get starter's minutes?

It's so illogical I can only come to the conclusion Doc figures Austin will be around next year and Avery won't
Reactionary coaching on any level is bad coaching. Consistency is the name of the game
How about just playing the best players the most minutes?
The Celtics 6 best players played the most minutes, what's your complaint?
Too many minutes for Ray. Not enough for Avery. It's that simple.  If Avery wants to start he has to grow a beard or something, and start complaining of arthritis apparently. Get some old man "injury" like sore knees or something. Then maybe Doc will start him.
Ray played 34 minutes and Bradley 30. I don't see the problem. Its not like Bradley was on the bench for huge minutes while Ray played. Ray played a ton of SF tonight. Bradley got 30 minutes of backcourt play almost every minute as a shooting guard. Bradley played more minutes at the 2 than Ray.

Was he supposed to play all 48 minutes?

its a tough loss, but I cant really complain about it. we came back from nearly 20down and had a chance to win it...against the 2nd best team in the West.

had the Celtics played better defense in the 1st half, or not missed those easy shots(bass dunk, rondos layup) we win.

if we continue to play with the effort we did tonight...I see us winning games on this tough schedule and going into the playoffs with the right tone

We lost.  That always sucks.  With that said, let's take some positives out of the game.

  • Absolutely entertaining to watch.  You aren't a basketball fan if you didn't enjoy this one.
  • We can hang with the best.  I know it was a home game but still, we can hang with them.
  • Confidence booster for the players, especially AB.  What a game he had.
  • Don't heap the blame on Paul.  Plenty opportunities to go on a run in the 3rd and 4th quarter and Celtics didn't capitalize.
  • Philadelphia lost.
  • We're angry for tomorrow night.

Both teams came into this game red-hot, something had to give and we had a chance to win.  That's the next best thing to a loss.  If we win tomorrow, that'd meet my 1 win 1 loss goal over the next 2 games anyway.

LETS GO CELTICS!

The funny part is Bradley had 30 minutes. He actually had more minutes than Bass, so 5th most on the team.

Why let the facts get in the way though? Ray actually rebounded pretty well, too.

Whatever, it's fun to scapegoat Ray these days just cause he's in his first game back from injury. Love it.
Bass should of finished the game. he made some huge plays in the last couple of minutes

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Ray Allen's offense:defense ratio is not as good as Bradley's offense:defense ratio...

A huge problem was that we had a tiny line up during the 4th quarter. Rondo, Bradley, Ray, Pierce, and KG.

Pierce can't guard Duncan/Splitter and we get destroyed on the boards as a result. Ray Allen was matched up with Danny Green, and did not defend well. I had no problems with the Manu v AB match though.
