Two things about this thread-
1) There are many posters who actually feel this way- Rondo haters, you know who you are, lol. I guess Rondo was just "padding his stats" again against the Heat. Or he's a toxic lazy jerk because he doesn't have a triple double every game. And where's that list of ten better pgs in the NBA? And oh yes, how are the Clippers and Nets doing with the great Chris Paul and Deron Williams?
2) Most of the posters can't even recognize blatant sarcasm when they see it.
The Clippers are the 4th seed in the west having won 5 games in a row and a record of 7-3 in the last ten.
Basically, the same spot as the Celtics except with home court advantage at the moment.
As great as Chris Paul is, I think we have seen how much Billups meant to that team. His presence was key for them at times. They are on a nice run but they are not the team they were earlier in the season with both Billups and Paul out there.
I think the Celtics would be better with Paul, but not by much. With Paul we are a definite contender for his big play ability in the last 3 minutes of games. With Rondo we are a borderline contender with the things he consistently does in the first 45 minutes of games.
I do believe presently we are a contender. The Heat are anything but unbeatable and a lot of times they lack heart. The Rose injury is starting to eerily remind me of Kg in 2009. Constant day-to-day injury statuses and no real updates on when he will actually come back. The Bulls could be in trouble if they draw a tough first or second round opponent.
If Rose isn't full strength then Rondo is a very tough matchup for him on both ends of the floor. With a less then 100% Rose the Bulls on paper are a very even matchup for us. As for the Heat, well, again they seem like front runners. When they aren't ahead they typically lose more then they win.
When you take the R out of heart you get heat.
