Doc's veteranitis always flares up this time of year.

I don't understand why we are changing something that has worked all year.  What is the Celts' record with AB starting?

Also, when you think about the top 2 teams in the East, wouldn't it be helpful to have AB in the game at the same time as Wade and Rose, so he can take them out of their games?

I'm guessing Doc just wants to give Ray the chance to go back to his starting spot, but wouldn't hesitate on bringing AB early into the game if the team needs a defensive spark. Doc has been known to be a player's coach and i guess he's just being cautious not to hurt Ray's ego without giving Ray the chance to prove himself worthy of being in the starting line up. I personally would want to ride this current streak with AB as part of the starting five though.

You don't lose your starting job and you don't win a starting job because of injury. That only happens in fantasy land

In any case I trust doc on his decisions.  He has a lot brighter basketball mind than me and im sure alot of other people here. He also knows this team a lot better than anyone else.

This isn't fantasy league, im sure a lot of factors go into every single decision doc makes.

Doesn't sound as though Ray can come back anytime soon,  so guess we are lucky to have somebody that can start and we don't see a drop off in overall team performance. Can't throw Ray under the bus yet either..

I do like what AB brings to the court , a new look /energy, guess we'll just have to watch the next few games and see if it is truely for real leap from a project young bench player to starter in terms of growth and maturity .

Playing the Spurs and Bulls will be a big test for AB & Rondo show .

Soon . we'll see if the reenergized Celtic team is for real... ;D
I think well be up to the task, the best thing is to start off this rough stretch of games we got 2-days now to rest meanwhile SA will be playing us off a back to back

I think San Antonio is a highly winnable game.  It would be nice to get that one as we fly to Chicago for the tail end of a back to back on the next night.

Not if Ray Allen has to play defense against Tony Parker .   ALlen needs to take a freakin seat on the bench and give the team a break.

You're surprised by this?

He also sat Bradley back to the bench when Rondo got healthy after the team went 6-2 with Bradley filling in as the starting PG.

A lot of pressure on Ray to perform here. If he doesn't and the team goes down, whether it's fair or not, all eyes will be on him.

Personally I don't see why Doc doesn't hold ray off until the Chicago game where we will need his offense more.

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

San Antonio is playing much better basketball than the Bulls right now, we'll need all of our players for both games. If Ray is ready to go he needs to play, we need to have everyone ready to contribute as there are only 14 games and less than a month till the playoffs start.

Doc's veteranitis always flares up this time of year.

I like the idea of AB starting and Ray coming off the bench, but I don't really blame Doc.  One of the reasons that Doc is so beloved by his players (and held in such high regard by players around the league) is that he treats his veteran players with respect and a certain element of deference.  Ray Allen has done enough over his career and over his time playing for the C's to deserve getting his starting job back - to not lose his spot to injury.  Now, if Ray comes back next season, maybe things are different, but I believe strongly that actions such as this are a big part of why players like and respect Doc Rivers.

I understand everyones opinion. Bradley has shined.

But it does help that Rondo isnt playing like crap , and pierce too

Its not like Ray has killed his team in every game hes played, Pierce and Rondo have had a share of the blame in many games also where they single handily destroyed the chances of a win with Ray playing amazing, you saw that in the playoffs many times.

The one thing Doc should realize is that running ray of screens EVERYTIME isnt a good look, change it up a bit, put something else in there

some people in here act like Ray hasnt been doing these cuts under the basket, he gets those baskets too, but since its a new guy doing it, its spectacular to some in here whenever he does do it

if ray starts tomrrow and this team loses, put the blame on doc. this is why popovich should get coach of the year imo, because he's not afraid to take a risk in his starting line up and getting his team wins (ginobili coming off the bench playing great and helping the  team win) it's not about vets this vets that or what doc thinks looks good on paper it's about what really is getting the team wins. ray offensive will always be great but i'm just saying if he was guarding wade on sunday, that game would've been a different story.

With all due respect to Bradley, but it has been only 6 games. If that's all it takes to have Ray come off the bench, then like I said before, then it's no different than the sentiment which seems to emit the "Doc doesn't look rookies" mentality or wanting the Big 3 traded for peanuts; people essentially just want to go young for the sake of it. I know that sounds like a bold presumption, but saying "Ray who?" means very little in the grand scheme of things.

i want to go young because the team is obviously, better that way and i was sold on bradley starting for a long time now. but his defense on wade, confident jumpshot, cutting made me a believer that he is starter material.

Bradley and its not even close.

Elite defender.
Young. Athletic. Can shoot. Can score. Can cut. Can run the floor with Rondo. (Hes almost always ahead of the pack when we get out on the break)

Nothing more needs to be said, Celtics fans have been complaining about "old and slow ball" for years. We finally have an answer.

Our starting lineup right now is faster and more athletic but is also better defensively.

No thanks to going back to old and slow ball, I like the new lineup.

^^ agreed

.....Or...Rondo and Pierce are playing better BECAUSE of Bradley?....just maybe
