the kid is amazing on defense and his shot is super consistent,
i'm not singling out ray one bit. with ray and pietrus coming off the bench (when healthy) can give us the 3rd best bench in the east tbh, the first unit needs bradley defense and the second unit needs ray scoring. that's what can give this team a huge push in the playoffs

^ steal a page from the thunders book thabo (defensive power) starts. harden scoring machine makes the bench better.

i agree with ab starting as well.

but just to play devils advocate, does that make more sense?

ray should provide scoring off the bench. but the problem is, if hes with the second unit guys, he becomes the #1 option on offense. defenses will focus 100% on him because everyone else is pretty terrible. when hes with the first unit guys, its hard to focus solely on one person in our lineup.

When was Bradleys shot consistent (in a good way)?  He isnt shooting well at all in my book.  He has a good FG% because he gets layups (created by other people), and hits wide open shots because defenders sag off him.  He does NOT come close to Rays shooting.

He's a far better defender than Ray at guarding smaller players, but he has shown no ability to guard bigger SGs (see Gerald Henderson).  Where he helps the most (perimeter defense), is already one of our starting units strong suits.  That makes his biggest advantage over Ray almost meaningless.

The only advantage to AB starting in place of Ray, would be that Ray could help our second unit more than Bradleys inclusion in the starting unit could hurt.

No interest in seeing Bradley continue in the starting lineup as a two guard. Too small.

I would like to see Pietrus take over from Ray Allen though as the starter.

I love AB...he has played well, and at this stage of his career already he's a very good defender. He will only get better as a defender and he is gaining more confidence offensively.

With that said, I believe Ray needs to start. Opponents still fear Ray Allen's shooting.

As good as AB has been for us, and as much as I like Rondo's improvement in this area, neither of them shoot as well as Ray - or provide that sheer threat that Ray does.

Didn't Ray Allen just shoot ATL out of that game a week or so ago? Ray Allen is still THAT good.

Like jsingh1699 mentioned in the thread - if Ray comes off the bench, he would be the primary threat that opponents focused on.

That being said - if he goes back to the bench, I hope that Doc doesn't bury him there. The kid needs to play 20-25 min per game, IMO.

He's perhaps the only reason why I would consider NOT drafting Austin Rivers.

We could very well have our future SG right here already.

At his size, guarding bigger 2s will probably always be hard for Bradley, but the only way he'll ever get better at it is by doing it in game situations.  I don't think he should start over Ray, but he definitely needs to get some minutes at the 2 over Dooling.  Bradley should come off the bench for Ray in the first quarter and then shift over to point when Rondo goes out and Dooling comes in.  Then keep Bradley at point when Ray returns until Rondo is ready to come back.

Our bench isn't that terrible, what are you talking about?

I honestly would rather have the other team's second unit try to defend Ray Allen than an actual starter on another team. It just makes more sense to do this and Ray Allen would be open much more often.

Ray is a better shooter and all...but I like the energy AB brings to start a game , he hauls tail up court and likes to push the ball..rather get us off to faster start, get the old legs warmed up .  I 'd like to see Ray come in off the bench to help that crowd with scoring more points while PP rests.

Ray would have a tougher time scoring if he was in with our bench guys.

Ray is a catch and shoot guy for the most part, he cant really crate his own shot, and when he does he turns the ball over.

Him on the second unit would mean playing with lesser skilled guys that wont be adept at setting good screens and making sure they get Ray open. It would be a disaster, Ray pretty much relies soely on Rondo knowing Rays spots.

Without Rondo, Ray would have a really hard time scoring, ever since Perk left Ray is nearly never open for shots anymore.
