As much as wanting a center makes a lot of sense I'm not sure there's great centers where we'll pick. I still have some faith in JJJ and Steams to develop and we can also draft one to help in the 2nd round and sign one.

Just with the way the rules are today it really favors guard play and Austin may be too good to pass up, especially if he wants to be here.

What concerns me with Austin is that I'm not sure he's a team first guy who would be like Rondo and sign a good long term deal. I get the feeling he'd be after every cent, force trades, etc. I think he already sees himself as a super star and that might not be good.

My first reaction was "yes definitely trade two picks for rivers, but try to get a second round pick added to the deal". The only second thought is how will Danny rank J Lamb, Beal, Rivers, and Terrance Ross. If he thinks that all 4 are pretty evenly ranked prospects then trading two picks for one is not worth it. However if he thinks the talent drop from Rivers to Ross is substantial then give up the two picks and commit to a Rondo Rivers starting back court with Avery as the back up for both positions.

If Austin gets drafted before us, would you trade both first rounders to get him? I say yes. I dont see the clippers pick (around 20) becoming anything great. trade 2 ok players to get a potential star.

rondo - bradley

allen  - rivers

that would be the best rotation of guards in the league by far. ray allen would get more rest from a developing rivers and further developing bradley

also think about it. that clippers pick was from the  perk trade.  perk for jeff green and austin rivers? sounds like a good trade to me....

remember. its all a game of chess. picking twice doesnt mean much if theyre not players you wanted in the first place.  you get flexability when you have multiple picks. this is what the patriots do kind of, except backwards. they normally trade down at least one pick for next year so they get flexability to do what they want when a player they really want shows up. This would be one of those moments. Austin is low enough that he is obtainable.

I'm one that prefers two potentially good players instead of one. I mean, sure Austin can be great but who's to say we can't get two great players to fill needs instead of one to fulfill one need. Rondo is suppose to be the franchise player when the vets leave, why not get 2 other guys to surround him with... I mean AB is already a 2 (Rivers is too)... if we are going for a full rebuild I say if you aren't trading them for a big, then get us two players that won't keep AB on the bench. I mean if Austin is there for one of our picks you take him, but don't go out of your way to get him.
i'll take 2 players over one who i think is a bit overrated

I don't think I'd trade both 1st rounders for Austin, but boy I'd certainly hope that if he's available when our first pick comes up we grab him.

The more I read up on him and watch clips, I'm sold. He's legit.

Ideally, we could grab him and get the best available big with that 2nd pick.

No.  I don't think he's THAT good.  If he was a franchise type player yes, but I don't think he is.

I think Austin should stay in school.  It's not like he needs the money.

I'd rather get Terrence Jones. A lefty Power 3.

In another draft, maybe.

In this one, definitely not!

Actually looking at the draft prediction I'm starting to agree with maybe trading a 1 and 2, or maybe even a 1, a 2, and Etwaun but maybe not much more than that

I'm just afraid of letting him slip by us.  But at the same time, I'm loving what AB does for us - especially when he plays the 2.

Danny could go several ways here...my heart says that if a Meyers Leonard-type talent is there for us with that 1st pick, take him. But at the same time I didn't think Kyrie or Steph Curry would be good, either. I was wrong on both counts, there. That is why I'm very hesitant to pass on Baby Doc, here.

Even Klay Thompson, with some playing time, is doing well in GSW.

I don't think the odds of Austin Rivers being a significantly better overall player than the guy we actually end up picking are all that high. I wouldn't trade a second first for him.

No way. We already have Rondo why waste two picks to get one mediocre guy. If he was a lottery player maybe, maybe id think about it. But i would much rather use our two first rounders to get a couple young athletic bodies on the bench, especially with our roster thin and depleted from free agency.
