If Austin gets drafted before us, would you trade both first rounders to get him? I say yes. I dont see the clippers pick (around 20) becoming anything great. trade 2 ok players to get a potential star.

rondo - bradley

allen  - rivers

that would be the best rotation of guards in the league by far. ray allen would get more rest from a developing rivers and further developing bradley

also think about it. that clippers pick was from the  perk trade.  perk for jeff green and austin rivers? sounds like a good trade to me....

remember. its all a game of chess. picking twice doesnt mean much if theyre not players you wanted in the first place.  you get flexability when you have multiple picks. this is what the patriots do kind of, except backwards. they normally trade down at least one pick for next year so they get flexability to do what they want when a player they really want shows up. This would be one of those moments. Austin is low enough that he is obtainable.

I'm one that prefers two potentially good players instead of one. I mean, sure Austin can be great but who's to say we can't get two great players to fill needs instead of one to fulfill one need. Rondo is suppose to be the franchise player when the vets leave, why not get 2 other guys to surround him with... I mean AB is already a 2 (Rivers is too)... if we are going for a full rebuild I say if you aren't trading them for a big, then get us two players that won't keep AB on the bench. I mean if Austin is there for one of our picks you take him, but don't go out of your way to get him.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

no i dont want austin. he's not gonna be a superstar, not big enough, not good enough defender and not enough other non-offensive skills.

also the doc - austin combination will kill the celtics. austin will end up disgruntled and doc will resign, its just got disaster written all over it

we dont need to be cute with these picks, just get solid players and start rebuilding with young assets. do exactly what ainge already did before the big 3 era, accumulate young assets, maintain cap flexibility and then get our superstars via free agency or trade.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Absolutely not.
Haven't seen enough of him dominating at the college level to even see this as an option.

We should pick him if he falls to us, because his ceiling is somewhat of a Russell Westbrook type of guard with speed and a jump shot, and an upgraded 3 point shot.
Still, that will take a lot of work, but more spacing in the NBA means he could reach that potential.

Even with his potential we cannot give up 2 players in the first round for him- there are too many gems to be found.
He just hasn't shown enough in college. Sure he dominated undersized, weaker players for Team USA but he NBA is a whole different ball game.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Agreed...giving up two picks to move up what?...probably 3 spots?  Five spots? Not worth it in a deep draft.  Not even close.

I also don't buy the Austin Rivers hype.  He does not have elite athleticism.  He does not have even good PG skills at this point.  He probably will be an average to below-average defender in the NBA.  He's a good shooter and so far an average one-on-on scorer.  Meh.

This is crazy...so in a word  HELL NO!

He ain't Lebron good to sacrifice 2 picks, I want a BIG and as much as I don't oppse us drafting him if he is there, I would never trade both picks to grab him.  SG are dime dozen and we can always have a more established one if we want via FA.

Hell no. Danny should not go that far to get Rivers. 2 picks is better than 1. Unless you see a Kobe Bryant potential, I wouldn't trade picks for him.

That said, I'm not against picking Rivers if he slide to us. But if other teams get him before we do, let him go. Remember, this is a deep draft so maybe we produce an all-star or two not named Austin Rivers.

No.

I'd use the picks to solidify the bigs and/or SF spot.

Sign Brandon Rush as the backup (or if Ray leaves, the starting) 2 guard.

Austin is very talented. But I'm really concerned about the Father-Son relationship that would be created in the locker room. It could be (i said it could, not it will) a distraction to the team. Better play it safe and still get some better value.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

He is not worth it.   Davis is the only kid I would think doing that for and whoever picks at one would never do it.

Nope. I would rather just draft someone like Deion Waiters. Same type of player except Waiters is a much better defensive player.
