What do you guys think... am I still crazy or is another one of my prophecies going to come true?

What prophecies? The only one I can recall is that the Celts would struggle to stay in the picture for a playoff spot.

Lol.  Prophecies for days, bro.  I successfully predicted Linsanity would die after 11 games.  I successfully predicted that the Hornets/Clippers trade would prove to be better than the vetoed Lakers/Hornets trade (one trade would have saddled them with mediocre 30 year olds making 60+ million dollars... the other trade left them with an allstar caliber 23 year old, Anthony Davis and cap flexibility).  I successfully predicted that we would need a center to fall out of the sky to be competitive (KG switched to center... saved our team from doom single-handedly)... I successfully predicted Ainge would blow it up at the deadline  (he traded Ray for Mayo and traded Pierce to the Nets for the 6th pick... both trades were either blocked or fell through... but I technically was right)... The only thing I was technically wrong about was that Avery Bradley was a bum who wouldn't help us in the playoffs.  He has turned into very capable role player, but then missed the playoffs with an injury.  I also think I predicted that the Celtics couldn't beat Chicago or Miami in the playoffs... that one is starting to look pretty true.

My last Nostradamus-esque prophecy is that my arch-nemesis, BballTim (with a light dusting of Celtics18) will continue to take me far too seriously and harass me in literally every thread I post in.

There's no way of saying for sure which trade was better, especially when you don't know how Gordon or the pick will turn out or what moves they might have made after the CP3 trade. A center didn't fall out of the sky, KG was on the roster all the time. People were talking about his moving to center for the last couple of years, and people were talking about Bass replacing JO in the lineup from early on in the season. Danny didn't break up the team, and I don't think you really have to worry about being taken far too seriously.

Well, there is the July Moratorium from July 1 to 10 during which he can't be traded, so I would bet any trade being official before July 11.

I thought trades could happen, you just can't sign free agents.

;D  How about Ainge says Screw Loyalty and trades Pierce, Rondo, Bradley, and our two firsts for Howard and Hedo. Orlando then trades Pierce and BBD for Gasol. Williams then signs a max contract with Boston and Kg signs a two year 21 mill contract with a 2012 cap hit starting at 9.5 mill. Jeff Green than signs the 2.5 mill stretch extension.

Let's do a poll on when he will be traded.

Hah.  My only thought was that Deron isn't going to want to wait around once free agency starts.  Nets will have a fire under their butts to make a move.  So maybe it happens a little after July 11th.  At the time of creating this thread, everyone was kinda accepting that Dwight was staying put.  I felt like people were blind to the real story (Dwight's a punk and the situation was far from over).  We'll see what happens.

I still personally like my crazy hypothetical (that can never really be realistically considered until the Heat eliminate us) of trading Rondo and both picks to Orlando for Dwight and then using our cap space to sign Deron Williams.  If KG and Ray come back for the vet min we can trot out PG - Deron, SG - Bradley/Ray, SF - Pierce, PF - KG and C - Dwight.  One can dream.  *Dodges pro-Rondo bullets from angry Rondo fans*

I support any idea of pairing Deron Williams (2nd or 3rd best point guard in the league behind Chris Paul and Rose) with Dwight Howard (best big in the game) in Celtic green.  That'd be a beautiful way to rebuild and our only real shot of having a foundation capable of stopping the Heats and the Thunders.  Granted, I'd love to just keep Rondo and bring in Dwight (or a less punk player of his caliber), but I don't think that's even remotely possible.  Bron aint goin nowhere.  Durant aint goin nowhere.  Chris Paul aint goin nowhere.  That leaves Dwight as potentially the only Superstar that could theoretically be had.

But I think Dwight goes to Brooklyn.  Lakers are probably still in play too (even though rumors suggest Dwight turned down a trade to the Lakers when Orlando threatened to move him at the deadline).

Well, I meant to type "I wouldn't bet on any trade being official before"

But anyways, during the July moratorium, the league does auditing that affects the salary cap, so almost all player transactions are banned.  The ones that can be done are those that don't depend on the cap, such as draft picks signing a rookie-scale offer or restricted free agents taking a qualifying offer.

Most of the "prophecies" on here are self-fulling or calling out the obvious as I see it.

If Dwight does get traded, expect the Magic to do a Carmelo styled trade where the team that gets him will be gutted in exchange.

Oh lawdy.  Anyone still following this?  Dwight apparently is still requesting a trade to Brooklyn:  http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8118159/sources-dwight-howard-tells-orlando-magic-gm-wants-trade-brooklyn-nets

But supposedly he's also complained to the player's association and wants to see if he can sue the Magic... claiming Blackmail or something.  It's almost unbelievable.  LOL.  Basically he wants to get out of his opt-in, because he's claiming they blackmailed him into signing it (which is obviously completely stupid)

Quote
Howard shared his feelings of being blackmailed by the Magic with the NBA Players Association last week, sources said. He -- either himself or through his representatives -- approached the union wondering if he might have a legal complaint against the club.

The goal of such a complaint would be to eliminate his "opt-in," thereby allowing Howard to become a free agent this summer.

Sources said the union is considering whether or not to pursue legal action against the Magic.

That's hilarious.  If you had been following this story at the trade deadline, it basically sounded like he had zero intention of opting in for the final year.  His goal was to just play out the season in Orlando "for the fans" and then bail on them for Brooklyn leaving Orlando with nothing.  Unfortunately, people starting ripping Dwight to shreds on Twitter and the Magic threatened to trade him to Lakers (which supposedly he had no interest in playing for)... so he opted in for the final year.  That was the main reason I posted this thread... Orlando fans were rejoicing and the media was acting like it was "over"... it didn't seem "over" at all.  I was making a ton of wild assumptions and speculating that Dwight was afraid to become the next "Bron"... it was heading that way for him... so he panicked and opted in (merely delaying the inevitable for another season).  It felt far-fetched at the time, but it's starting to seem more and more true.  Not sure if it will go down between June 28th and July 11th... but good grief... this is exceeding all my expectations.

Dwight Howard is an epic toolbag punk.
