Looks like forums reverted to a previous version, you'll notice that the Wizards game thread is also short a lot of pages and posts.

It would be nice if a Kevin Love-led team made the playoff ONCE before getting compared to Bird.  But idiot players and fans can compare him to to Bird as soon as he accomplishes all of this....

3× NBA Most Valuable Player (1984–1986)
    12× NBA All-Star (1980–1988, 1990–1992)

He is not.

Then again, Bird is a top 5 player of all time.  Therefor, there are only a few ever to play the game that was at his level.

if this is true, it just goes to show the ignorance of those fans.  if they ever saw Bird play, they wouldn't be making the comparison.

I don't understand how the comparison would work. Other than being white they don't really have much in common. Is there a link?

Both are great shooters and rebounders but Love is nowhere near the passer or defender Bird was.
2025 CelticsStrong Historical Draft Orlando Magic:
PG: Chris Paul, Fred VanVleet
SG: Ray Allen, OG Anunoby, Zach Lavine
SF: Paul Pierce, Gordon Hayward
PF: Chris Bosh, Serge Ibaka, David West
C: Tim Duncan, Andrew Bogut

Love is unique, that's for sure. He is already the best-shooting player ever to lead the league in rebounding.

The fact that he can lead the league in offensive rebounds while getting so much of his offense outside is stunning, frankly.

But the Bird comparison is silly.

He has much more in common with Cowens, or Bill Laimbeer.

They are both about 6'9", even though they play different positions. Love is stuffing the crap out of the box scores lately ... so he deserves some credit and the comparisons are bound to happen thanks to the skin tone. I like Love's game. Kudos to Kevin McHale for making the OJ Mayo trade for Love! I thought at the time that OJ would wind up being the stud of the two but ... boy was I wrong.

Larry Bird is/was a beast on another level for an entire decade plus. Either way, you gotta love (no pun intended) any reason to bring up #33.

Question is, will Love rot his career away on stinky Wolves teams a la KG or will he soon find his way to a real team..

He's leaving.  When the T-Wolves excercised their option, Love's brother tweeted something like "Congrats to the Wolves for renting Kevin for another few years"

Seriously. People that are making that comparison seem to have forgotten who the hell Bird was. Get back to me when Love accomplishes maybe a third of that.
