I got a pretty good scare. I had just got home and turned on the TV to see the team standing around someone on a stretcher.  Then I hear Hubbie Brown say, "he missed a few games at the beginning of the year, but he's been playing well lately."  OH MAN!  I thought it was Pierce!  Anyway, I hope Pietrus gets better.  

Why did he grab the back of his head after he fell?  He fell on his back, his head didn't hit the floor. Could it be a nerve in his spine caused pain in his head? Or did he catch an elbow?

Spine, probably. Something might've snapped, whiplash, something like that.

My wife said best case, whiplash. Something worse like a dislocated disc. She said it looked like he was going into shock the way he was breathing. The spitting up blood could be from biting his lip or tongue.  

She said it was good he rolled over, but didn't like seeing him not move his feet afterwards. But we also didn't see everything.

Looked to me like he was moving his arms.  That wiki link is scary stuff, though.  Forget basketball, I just hope he's able to live his life again.

I said something similar in the game thread. I don't even care about basketball anymore. I just want him to make a full recovery and get back to his old self, even if he can't play another game ever again.

This might be a fatal blow to the team though...how hard does it have to be to keep up team morale in this situation? We just cannot catch a break.
