  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Terribly misleading topic title.
Pure speculation.
Next please.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Why would Ray and KG want to come back here?  It's not like they played their whole career's here.  Why should they have any loyalty to Boston?  It's a business, and at this point of their career's, they want to go to established teams that can win a championship.  Sorry to break it to you, but that won't be us for many years.  Ray is going to want at least a couple years and who knows, KG might retire.  He certainly doesn't want to come back here and play Center again.

And I love the whole, "just sign a max guy and sign KG/Ray on the cheap", stuff.  What max guy???  You can't just make stuff up.  Howard and Deron want NO part of Boston, just like every young hip hop generation NBA player.  After that, there's a bunch of garbage out there.  Some of you are, let's just say "recent fans", and only know success, and think we're going to be good all the time.  Nope.  Just ask anyone who suffered the Sherman Douglas years.  That's not how it works.  We need to build through the draft, and Ainge and company delayed that a year by not moving, at least Ray, at the deadline.

Got a quote from Garnett saying he won't play center anymore?

I'd like to see it, especially since he's playing as well as he's played with the Celtics right now.

Absolutely confident Garnett will be back next year.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Some people just like to argue for the sake of arguing.  He's said many times he doesn't enjoy playing center.  He's there out of necessity. He's not being used efficiently there.  Also, if we did need him back at Center, that would mean we didn't go out and sign the necessary FA's in order to be a competitive team.  Giving him another reason to leave.  But I'm glad you're confident he'll be back.  Since we're doing so well with him...
