Seriously though, Bill Simmons has lost his fastball. In the old days signing sean williams on 4/20 would have brought an immediate article, i mean the jokes write themselves. Not even a tweet on it today.
Wow...lot of dramatics on this thread for an end of the bench signing to replace the corpse of JO. I believe someone asked if we could've signed 2 worse guys out of the D-League than Hollins and Williams. At the beginning of the year I would've said "Yes. Greg Stiemsma". A lot of people probably would've said that too. It's a low risk signing with 3 days until the end of the year. I'm not sure what all the huffing and puffing is about.
Sean Williams is not a center. He is a power forward.More in common with a Serge Ibaka than a DeAndre Jordan. Sean Williams offensive limitations means he needs to play alongside a highly skilled offensive center (which Boston has in KG). Trying to develop him as a center would be a mistake. Sean Williams doesn't have the requisite physical toughness and intelligence to make it as an undersized finesse five. He is much more effective as a potential (down the road) game-changing defender/rebounder at the power forward position where he can ably play due to his combination of high level quickness and overall athleticism. I was disappointed New Jersey didn't keep him around longer. I thought Brook Lopez and Sean Williams complemented one another's strengths and weaknesses very well. They could have been a very effective combination if NJ showed more patience in developing Williams.

We'll probably get a chance to see him play as a 4 in these last 3 games with Stiemsma and Hollins likely getting the minutes at the 5.Stiemsma and Williams might be an entertaining combination.
I can see Williams asking Hollins if he wants to "pak -a -bowl"
The Knicks are reportedly set to waive Bill Walker so they can sign veteran center Dan Gadzuric, an aged but athletic shotblocker and rebounder.Anyone want to make the case the Celtics should have gotten him instead of Williams? I think a case could be made that Gadzuric is the better player but the Celtics need an emergency 4 more than they need an emergency 5.
