However, Boston's interest in Hollins goes back before he was waived by Cleveland on Tuesday.

Hollins, who played at UCLA, spent the lockout working out and playing in games with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.

Ainge said Garnett and Pierce urged him this summer to try and sign Hollins.

"They really liked his game and the way he could play with them," Ainge said. "I think he would fit in well with what we do."

It is unclear how much Hollins will help immediately.

For the C's, having another big on the roster is help in itself.

That's at least somewhat encouraging . At least he can finish around the rim , can run and has length. Maybe Rondo can make him look better like Steve Nash does for athletic players.

He plays with energy and physicality, which I guess they would like.  Too bad he isn't any good.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Are you a Hollins fan?  I'm just a little bitter post-deadline.

Ultra-skinny and a very light rebounder (one board every 5.7 minutes on the floor, Ryan Hollins should fit in nicely with this team.

He hardly rebounds, doesn't score much, doesn't block shots too often (one every 24 minutes), and doesn't pass the ball much (one assist every 37 minutes).

Welcome to Boston, Ryan Hollins!

never heard of him.  Sounds like a major bum.  Do we have to wait until he actually puts on a Celtic uniform to start comparing him to Bill Russell?  I forget how this kinda thing works.

lol the negativity here is awesome, he'll do fine here for the sole fact he brings height and athleticism to a not very tall or athletic squad. he'll get his fair share of oops, and back taps off the offensive glass.  I'm glad we could get him.

Aww .. I had my hopes set a little higher than Mikki Moore!  Please?!
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Me too. Anything is good when you have nowhere to go but up.

And someone mentioned him being "ultra-skinny" ... Shawn Bradley was ultra-skinny, and Hollins isn't anywhere close to being that thin.

on the deadline chat with weei ainge spoke how he like to get his players thoughts on players they like, I rather he rely more on scouting and metrics.

In 08-09 before he got his last contract from sota he was a slightly below average rebounder, TRB% 12.9 (a career high), lets hope he can go back to that as he hopes for a new contract this summer. Although that might inspire ainge to resign him which would be bad thing.

BTW he is 27 years of age, so i fail to see how he is a developmental project as some here have suggested
