Will Sheed join Boston?

Of all the teams out there everyone else is pretty well set down low well contenders that is. I am sure the big 3 would welcome sheed back. Think Miami just signed turiaf, Spurs are favorites to sign diaw, and other contenders are pretty set as of OKC L.A. and so on.. To be honest I would rather have him the fesenko or hollins. He knows the system we only need him to play all of 15-20 minutes. He says he will make his choice come Friday so we shall see.

If it's the choice between Sheed and an empty roster spot, sure, but he'd be one of my last choices.

The last hope for any kind of upgrade on JJJ/Stiemsma is if an unexpected buyout occurs.  The inexplicable Reggie Evans buyout rumor is what I turn my faint hopes to.

lets say we get one of the young guys (if diaw is gone) say hollins then sheed would make sense, if he's in somewhat shape and would stay on the box he's a plus
during the playoffs for us he looked good a few times, during the season very few times and that was 2 years ago 

why can't jermaine put a wrist brace on and just play 10 minutes a game?  go in box out, play defense and set picks
if surgery is possibly going to end his career what does it matter

Since Danny alluded to youth, I don't think Sheed meets that criteria. However, I've been saying all along that Sheed is the obvious best choice unless his skill level has declined considerably.  He has a leg up on anyone just for the fact that he has the potential for a seamless re-introduction to the team. That's worth a ton given 15 games left and virtually no practice time available.  So unless the talent level of another big is demonstrably better than Sheed's; got to go with Sheed.

Pros and cons



Cons (because they're smaller): He's old and no one knows what shape he could be in. (my guess is: HE'S NOT THE FREAKIN FAMILY GUY THAT'S FOR SURE)

Pros: Knows the system (oh this is such a cliche in Boston but to hell with it, we're the only team that has a system built for veterans only), is tall, spreads the floor, did somewhat good on Center position and added A LOT to our defence 2 years ago as he knows all the tricks that we could witness, woke up in the playoffs just like the rest of the team, no veteran cares about regular season, they all play basketball for the playoffs, and most of all - he's an enigma, nobody knows what he can or can't do (with KG, RA, RR and PP, you just can't be bad).

The zombie mode Sheed from regular season turned into inspiring mode when playoffs started. He initiated quite a few runs and hit quite a few daggers against Cleveland, Miami and Lakers.

If this all doesn't persuade you, then this might: He's the only big-name player to come to Boston willingly since the summer of 2007.

Rasheed has serious low post game if he's willing to use it. Nothing on the market better if we get Sheed that showed up in the playoffs a couple years ago. I'll take Sheed over anything that has been bought out or will be except for Kaman. Alot people underestimate sheeds intangibles. Smarts,defense,positioning,scoring inside & out, Good FT shooting big, great teammate & unselfishness (except the T's)

I love the passion myself, must see TV! Means they actually care, but alot of the others probably dislike & overlook alot of his good over this one flaw.

It could be a change of heart we realize nobodys walking though that door for us and no team is looking to grab him Miami and LA even worked him out already.

Miami worked out 'Sheed, and signed Turiaf.

LA worked out 'Sheed, and has made no push to sign him (knowing that other teams, like Miami and Boston, were desperate for a big and might push to sign him).

So, the two teams that we know have kicked the tires on 'Sheed have decided that he's not worth it.

please no, I'd be glad having Hollins and Fasenko than picking up another big old man who likes to shoot from the outside.

For this team to have any shot at making a run in the playoffs, we need a talent upgrade.  Fesenko is likely a good pickup as the second big, but he's not going to be a huge difference makers. 

The only serious upgrades on the market are Kaman (if he's bought out), Diaw (if he gets his head and body straight), and Wallace (if he's not fat). 

A lot of ifs there.  However, if Kaman isn't available (and certainly if Diaw isn't too), I'd roll the dice on Sheed with one of the big roster spots (though I'd get a second guy too).
