Warrior fans in the bay area, boo the owners and ruin Chris Mullins number retirement ceremony.

They wanted to stay a sub .500, non-playoff team with Monta Chucker Ellis I guess.

I cant believe they boo this guy, they were a below mediocre team, they make moves to get better and these fans cant even show respect for the man that is trying to turn the franchise around.

Yeah, that sucked.

I am happy for Chris Mullin, though, he deserved to have his number up there.

I could definitely see that happening here in Boston.

Fans are a bit deluded to love Ellis so much.

True. I think that the exposure of the NBA today has a lot to do with that. The NBA even has a YouTube channel and are posting clips almost as they happen. They also post a lot of stuff on Facebook. Now, when there's an injury or some other "breaking news" happening, it's on Twitter (et al.) two minutes after it went down.

In Mullin's playing days, you had to really try to stay updated on trades, injuries and such. Twenty years ago, I was buying editions of USA Today just to check the box scores - although I do realize I had it tougher, being in Europe and all. We didn't get too many games back then, either.

Today you don't even have to look for it, it's right there, hammered into your face. Players like Monta thrive on that. It plays to their ego. Ellis, to me, is Hollywood: Very entertaining but in the end, only a small refuge from everyday life. And there's nothing wrong with that, by the way.

I bet most of the people that booed never even watched Mullin perform in a live game. I guess he was more the working man, the kind of NBA player that I would admire. I'm happy for Chris Mullin.

It's news around here. As also a Warrior fan, im ashamed of what these fans did yesterday. I don't even understand why they BOOED Lacob. Is it the Monta deal? Don't they realize that it opened up a spot for Klay Thompson, who's balling right now. Really embarrassed.

If we traded Paul Pierce I reckon Ainge would get a similar reception.

Bad timing for a ceremony (right after a controversial trade).

Golden State's ownership and management need to accept partial responsibility for what happened.

NO matter what its Chris Mullin, you don't boo anyone during his number retiring ceremony.

I have a hard to fathoming someone doing that when DJ or Max's numbers went up.
Was Bird, McHale, Parish or DJ's numbers raised during ML or Pitino times?

classless fans indeed. i just don't understand how they cannot see the positives of having bogut around and i agree that klay has been balling after the trade. this will eventually work out for them in the long run.

I think this is the key factor.

Also, Lacob's trade of Ellis was an added indightment on Mullin's personnel decisions.

I think the bigger issue is that Golden State thought it would be a good idea to retire Mullin's jersey three years after they fired him as an Executive. Talk about disingenuous.

I think Warriors fans got a real tease with the team that upset Dallas. Im sure they expected that year to spark plug the franchise and they are blatantly going through another rebuilding project.

GSW has some of the best fanbases in the NBA. The timing was the real issue here.

How about when we won the championship and everyone was booing Stuart Scott and David Stern?

We just won the championship and the commissioner is handing us the trophy, but everyone is booing him.

Very similar.

The fans definitely weren't booing Mullin, so i don't see it as bad.  They've had 3 winning seasons in the last 20 years, why shouldn't the owner get booed?  (Although Lacob has only owned the team for like 1 1/2 seasons, nobody wants to hear the owner talk).

I'm a bit torn on this one.  I dont think it's necessarily Monta but just the fact that I believe the team has only been to the playoffs like once in the last 20 or so years, and just frustration that the team is once again, scrapping a plan and going in a new direction.

Thats where Im kinda torn.  While some may consider this classless, and in this situation it probably is since the Warriors owner really hasnt been around long enough to be considered a bad guy yet, but I could imagine this being worse for other franchises in sports.

Theres a reason Dan Snyder has never picked up a mic and tried to talk before the crowd at FedEx field, and it's because the wrath of the crowd would be about 20x as unbearable as it was in the posted clip.  I cant say I wouldnt be right in the middle of it too if I were there, even if Darrell Green was getting his number retired.

I agree it is similar buy it was not 'everyone'. I was in the arena on game 6 and I was not booing. It is a minority of fans that booed Stern, but it only takes a few thousand voices to be prominent.
