Why didn't Danny Ainge trade for Hickson?

I wonder that too. Dooling, cash, and a 2nd for Hickson would probably have done it for Sacto, no? Maybe they were asking for more?

Perhaps we were unwilling to give up Dooling? ;)

young big, not super skinny, can rebound and run the floor. if there is any way we can get him we need to do it. all the other options are either undersized(height or weight) are injury prone, are old or some combination of all of them.

This is the kind of young player you bring in and say "hey, you will be playing under the tutelage of one of the greatest PF's of our time, and we will be obtaining through the draft some young players for you to build a nice team with (including Rondo already, of course). Sound like a deal?"

Granted we really just need a warm body to absorb some minutes, and he fits that description, but JJ Hickson is one of the most clueless defensive players I've ever seen play the game. I can't see him playing all that many meaningful minutes for a team that prides itself on defensive intelligence.

any chance of us getting some sort of injury exceptions for JO and Wilcox that would allow us to claim Hickson off waivers? Because that's our only real shot at getting him imo. It sounds like he already decided not to come to boston, and I expect several teams to try to claim him off waivers.

If it were possible to get an exception for an injury this late in the season, it would be applicable for next season, but O'Neal and Wilcox are not under contract for next season, so not possible.

A team would need the cap space to absorb his contract to get Hickson off of waivers.

Why would they ask for more?

I really doubt cash would be needed. Or that if cash was involved, that they'd ask for a 2nd rounder too. They just "traded" him for some pretty meaningless savings.

Wojo says GState and Phoenix are leading candidates.

I didn't think the Suns had the TE or cap space to take Hickson on.

I wouldn't give that up for Hickson.  He seems like the sort of player that poorly-managed teams tend to over-value then regret.  Some idiot GM will probably offer him a 3 year/$10m contract over the summer.

Ya apparently JJ is going to sign with the Warriors as early as tonight/tomorrow once he clears? Throwing another curve at us. Wonder who we're chasing

Oh, and remind him about our cap space next year while you're at it.
