I read the quote but still according to Hoops World.  We are close with Turiaf... It could just mean that they have somewhat of a commitment with him but he can't do anyting until he clears waivers...

Just was reading espn boston saying that Ronnie's agent said nothing is close and that everything is a negative right now. So I wonder who it could be. I mean I like Ronnie, like sheed too but wonder how well he would be, And other then that I am not sure who else is out there that is a upgrade.

Turiaf would be my guess.  Similar strength/weakness profile to JO (minus some of the post defense, plus a little bit more mobility).  The French Connection with Pietrus probably doesn't hurt.

We're in a position to offer him a lot of minutes, probably moreso than any other contender.

My only beefs with Turiaf are that he won't solve our rebounding problems, and he probably won't stop small-ball.  Given his offensive limitations, I don't think Doc would play him with Stiemsma -rather he'd replace Stiemsma, nor do I think he'd play him the 30ish minutes he'd need to to keep Pietrus/Pierce from seeing so much time at the 4.

Thus we'd be adding a small net upgrade over Stiemsma (better overall defensive player, better finisher in the paint; lesser rebounder).

If C's are 'close' on big man, just know that Ronny Turiaf is expected to take his time given interest:

To me I'd rather have Turiaf or Gadzuric because you add a little beef and with Johnson you don't.  I do wonder what kind of shape Gadzuric is in though.  Fill 1 spot and wait on another from either a buyout or something else...

Yeah, I'd prefer either of those guys to Chris Johnson.  I don't see anything CJ can do that JJJ and Stiemsma don't provide already.

Well, if we're doing a "last rodeo," might as well bring back Sheed so we can at least try to relive 2010. Plus, he's a better rebounder than any of the other guys I've heard mentioned (Turiaf, Gadzuric, CJ).

I always liked Gadzuric when he was healthy and playing for a contract.  I wouldn't mind picking him up at all.
