Same old.  Only the result differs, Hoping the Brain Trust does not think the winning combination, the secret forumale, the magic elixer, the Rune of Red....

Is there a team in the league that executes more poorly than we do? Honestly, It seems like we make a conscious effort to lose and/or do the wrong thing all the time.

Players or coaches fault?
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Agreed.  Funny/Sad that people who didn't watch the game and check the box score or see SportsCenter are going to have no clue what really happened tonight

  • It's all about the TEAM!
Wow! Even up 15 with like 5 minutes to go we manage to make it a nail-biter.

Thank goodness for Ray Allen shooting free throws at the end of the game. God knows I would have been a lot more nervous if Rondo was shooting the free throws!

Hey, I'll take it!

Celtics Win!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!

Players.

The crux of the matter: I feel like Doc is too nice a guy to actually lose his mind and dig into the guys, imploring them to actually run the offense in key moments and/or play within a system...Not that that would be a winning strategy, as KG, Pierce, Ray, and Rondo would have none of being exhorted or criticized. Essentially, this is a deeply flawed team with ego issues.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

A win is a win:) I m always confident when the score is so low that we re getting it, something about focus in this team when each possesion matters:)

yep, the offense slow-down possessions topped off each time with a Paul Pierce Iso Special is a disaster waiting to happen.

do Doc and the players not notice how ineffective that usually is ?? it's as if they only remember the rare occasions when Pierce makes a big shot and forget all the times he is forced into a stumbling fallaway 22-footer with a defender all over him and a shot that has no chance.

Nice job by Pietrus, he & rondo's late defense a big key
Good all around game by KG, impressed with steamer tonight.  Nice job 2nd half by Bass blocking out and rebounding.
ugly game
pp came back in late, why was he slowing the ball down, no ball movement
was that what doc & rondo were yelling at him about?

josh smith, like his rebounding & passing, not the best shooting night but I know he can score more wondering about his shot selection/brain....if i am allowing him to come to celtics  ;)

Well, Pierce kept getting Zaza switched on to him.  The iso's could have worked a lot better, but Pierce just didn't have a lot of burst tonight.

Just going through stats now checking on stiesmsa, rondo had 6 steals, knew he went over 10 assists but 6 steals is pretty impressive

If you believe Doc in his interview you'd have to think it's the players fault. Doc's never been known for throwing his players under the bus but he definitely made it sound like they were doing the opposite of what he was asking down the stretch

i'm not talking about a Pierce Iso that develops naturally off ball movement - i'm talking about the slow-down possessions when Pierce stands out front with the ball dribbling seconds off the clock, then predictably begins a weak assault on the basket with too little time left and nowhere to go but a weak fallaway under heavy pressure.
