These last two nights are scaring me and now more than ever im convinced DA made a huge mistake doing nothing at the deadline...

We should have gotten young talent, or picks. We should have done something. Because doing nothing, we're getting blown out again... and now its for no reason. We're not even rebuilding... if we were gonna get blown out anyway we may as well have started the process...

The equation is bad... lots of cap space + no good FA + getting nothing for our aging players + danny's bad drafting history = recipe for 20 more years of the celtics being bottom feeders.

We knew we weren't going anywhere this year anyway, we should have started rebuilding... now as I watch this team get blown out by two subpar teams I sit back and realize, if we were gonna get blown out... why couldnt we have at least been rebuilding and beginning to attack the team's flaws...

DA I hope your stubbornness hasn't cost us years of relevance...

Bad drafting? How many solid players Danny drafted? And it's not like he blew top picks. The only bad draft he did is the 2008 and 2009. The rest are decent and solid.

You only think about the 2012 free agency? What about the 2013? Our chance for banner 18 this year is slim. But at least give the Big 3 their last run. They will come cheap next season if they decide to stay in boston. If not, you can spend cap space for trading chips.

Let it play out a little. The Kings are bad but those games happen. The Nuggets are actually a good team and bad match up for us. We're rebounding horribly right now.

Might it have been the wrong decision for us to o nothing? Sure. But I appreciate what this team has done and want to see how they finish out. I don't see how getting rid of all of our expiring assets is building for the future.

It's possible that if we had done something it would have made us worse in the present and the future. The idea that anything is better than what we have now is wrong. We could easily be the Wizards or the Nets with a few bad decisions.

Dumping our older players does not equal getting better for the future.

Don't be afraid. Danny doesn't have a bad draft history, there are plenty of good players available in free agency, and we have some good pieces already.

JR Giddens. Just saying. Well besides that, it's all decent/good.

If, hypothetically, playing out the season and starting to rebuild in the summer would lead to a three-year project before the Celtics were again relevant to the title picture, starting a few months early would not shave a year off that project.

Basically this.

First, it was many of Danny's draft picks and roster moves that were traded to get Ray and KG - not to mention Doc's development of those guys.  (Doc does play rookies when he has to, but prefers vets...because they know how to win).

Given the injuries, including the loss of Green, not to mention the non-signing of DWest, this year has become a long-shot.  There was nothing we could have done at the deadline to dramatically change this.  By standing pat, it not only gives the current roster one more shot, however low the odds, but more importantly keeps a lot of options open for the summer, including the keeping of draft picks.  I personally think that was the right thing to do.

Tonite's Denver game we really killed ourselves with the turnovers.

If we just take care of the ball it will prevent their transition points. It would have been a much closer game all night long.

I'm not one to say "I told you so" very often.

But I am one of the ones who has been saying this all along. Danny Ainge is an idiot and his stupidity at the deadline might set this franchise back for years. And don't come at me with this "cap space" stuff. Cap space and an awful FA class isn't going to win us a title.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
People weren't giving up first round draft picks for our veterans.
So Danny decided that it's better for our team in the short term to resign our vets next year. He can use them as attractions for free agents. If we can't land any game changing free agents, he will trade the re-signed veterans to someone who needs them. I've  pointed this out about 5 times now, but here goes again.

eg: send a re-signed KG and Ray who are both on 5 million a year to the Bulls for Boozer and Rip Hamilton.
Chicago gives us their lottery pick from Charlotte for getting the cheap veterans and taking on Boozers horrible contract.

Much more valuable return for KG and Ray than a couple of crappy late 2nd rounders.

Please stop panicking.
Danny has a plan- he always does.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

we were in the middle, ideally not were you wanna be with an old team, ideally in that situation u trade ur older player, however cause of their contracts, no one of the older guys were moveable except allen and his case cos his contract expires no body was offering anything great.

If Kg and allen return ainge should have enough cap space to sign a pf/c.

If kg and allen don't return then watch them trade paul, and next year will be a tanking year. You might aswell head over to scout.com and start examing their top 100's high school prospects and start imagining who danny will draft with a top 5 pick in 2013.
