Assume we drafted Austin Rivers...

I'd love to see a post exploring this theme.

Assume that Austin Rivers is available when the C's pick, they deem him the best available player on the board, and they grab him.

My questions/thoughts:

• How would Doc treat him as a player? Could he be objective?
• How might it affect the team dynamic?
• How would he fit in with the culture?
• Would Doc sit him like he typically does with rookies?

I'm not saying the C's should necessarily draft him -- I'm just intrigued by the prospect and all that it would entail.  Are there any other examples in the NBA of a player/son father/coach?

I think he'd just treat him as any other player... thats what I'd expect from doc as a professional

Yeah, this is the least of the worries.  The real problem would be how it would be percieved by other players on the team (especially if players are losing playing time to Austin), and how that affects the dynamics of the team...and also how it affects Austin and his development. 

Personally, I think this draft is loaded enough that I don't think its worth taking a risk on that.

Terrence Ross went off for 32 points last night in the NIT against Northwestern, I believe. He looks like he has major all around potential, quite Pierce like in his upside. Certainly more athletic than even a young Pierce.

Could contribute in NBA even when his shot is off, because of his elite athleticism and heady-ish all around play.

Rondo would take his lunch money. All of the media hype about him joining his dad's team, him getting an ego check playing with guys better than him, and the grind of 82 games would break him. Or, he becomes a star and the media eats it up.

I think it would burn him and Doc out though. I'd hate to see that worst case scenario play out.
