I used to like him as a broadcaster when he was doing the national broadcsats for NBC.

Since then, I have heard maybe two or three games he's done, and was unimpressed.

  • It's all about the TEAM!
Considering the other games I have watched this season and had to sit through other team's announcers, I at least found the Kings broadcasters enjoyable. Some of the other announcers are god awful to listen to both for the sound of their voice, the way they announce the game, their lack of insight and the way they are homers.

Walton said a lot of nice things about the Celtics throughout the game. He also played up the fact he was working for the Kings. I found his game more entertaining than the rest of the other teams. Of course I don't think I could listen to him every night.

I would have still taken our homers over theirs any day. But I didn't have that choice. And since I didn't, I found their announcing crew better than most others.
The Celtics aren't quitters. Why should you be? - blind homer

I'm sorry.  I liked Walton as a player (actually if his career had not been cut short by injuries he may have been  one of the top rated centers of all time), but his commentary gave me a splitting headache last night...his pomposity makes my teeth ache!

I worry about his breathing problem...he never stops to take a breath.  He sometimes comes up with good lines, but finding them is not worth   listening to the rest of his babble.

Priceless, Rondoholic. Not to change the subject, but  I especially loved the Charles Barkley segment. ;D

Actually Bill Walton is a genius, this is his quote at the beginning of the game.

"Some nights Rondo is abosolutely incredible where he looks superhuman, other nights you wouldnt even know he was playing."

He had one of those "you wouldnt even know he was playing" nights last night.

So true Bill, so very true.

I enjoy Walton's commentary. The good far outweighs the bad.

When he was broadcasting, I started out disliking him, then liking him. Haven't heard him in awhile though.

Van Gundy is getting bad as is Breen.

I think Walton is great.  He's funny, and he knows the game.  He also calls the game pretty well for both sides, without going too far for the home team.  He played before my time, but I still find his jokes funny and can relate to him.

Even though he represents my team, it can be tough listening to Tommy sometimes because he's just TOO biased, like the Cs never commit a foul lol.  Plus, a lot of his "humor" is a little too old school for me.

Still, those 2 plus Clyde Frazier are all pretty entertaining to me.

Is it me or does Clyde have the best voice? Does he not sound like he's on something at times?

He isn't a moron.  Like many broadcasters, you like him or you don't, but he isn't stupid at all.

At the risk of sounding like a fogey, can I ask, does moron or idiot mean something less offensive to younger (text/blog) generations than it does to older generations?  I bristle when I see/hear (talk radio or on blogs) people calling people morons or idiots. But I think the under 30's might perceive these words differently, more lightly, than the over 50's.   I think maybe I take it too seriously.

He was our moron, in any event. He has to make a living, like most of us. Let him be.

Sometimes I get tired of Tommy's schtick, but then they go on an extended road trip and Donny Marshall takes over, and I'm forced to watch the majority of the games with the television muted.  Then, I start to appreciate Tommy Heinsohn again.

Donny Marshall is as big a moron and Tommy should be retired.
