If you really think we can trade for Josh Smith and DeAndre with no assets other then Rondo, JJJ and Pierce and a couple of mid round #1 draft picks why don't you just shoot for DHoward and also DRose while you're at it...

Paul Pierce is NOT an asset that would help you get Josh Smith.  You can't get Smith and Jordan (they just signed Jordan and aren't going to trade him) together.  You don't have the assets and also you can't get Kaman, Mayo, Green, Dragic and Jason Terry?  How will you pay for them all?  Come on now!!!

Yeah but if you take PP off the books and bring in Josh Smith there goes the cap sapce.... this is crazy. green 7 mil, Kaman 5 mil, Mayo 7 mil, Dragic 3 mil, terry 6-7 mil (all undershots) thats 28 million right there! how do you expect to sign all those guys? we arent in a fantasy basketball league.

Starters-
Rondo: 11M

OJ Mayo: OJ is a RFA with a 7.4 qualifying offer. A top 3 pick in 2008. A decent defender at the SG position, could be a serious upgrade over Ray Allen when it comes to scoring and playmaking.

Green: Green should be available for short money coming off surgery, he's still young, and has been around the team most of this year.

KG: (No idea what he wants for money, would be a valuable veteran presence)

Hawes: In my opinion Hawes has been one of the best centers in the league this year, and his injury has been a HUGE part to do with the 76ers slight step back. Hawes can score efficiently, block shots, and is a great passer as a big guy.

Bench-

Bradley: 1.6M

Pierce: 16.7M

Bass: 4M

JJJ: 1.1M

Pietrus: If he will take a 1 year deal he could be a valuable defender/outside shooter off the bench

That could be a squad that starts the era of this actually being Rajon Rondo's team with Pierce more in the background. KG's returning is strictly based on what he's looking for money-wise. I'd even be open to Ray Allen returning in an Eddie House type role.

As for the draft... my dream scenario works out like this:

1st Round:

Meyers Leonard- Center, Illonois, 7'1", 245 lbs.

Outlook: Leonard is a very nice prospect for the center position in the NBA ... Has really blossomed in his sophomore year and is just hitting his stride and was not a big factor in his freshman season ... There really aren't a lot of weaknesses in his game ... He should look to establish an offensive identity and continue to polish his all-around game ... With his potential, he's sure to get some looks in the lottery ...

Terence Ross- Shooting Guard, Washington, 6'6", 200 lbs.

Notes: Measured 6'7 (in shoes) 197 lbs, with a 6'7 wingspan at the 2011 Kevin Durant Skills Academy.

First of all, the OP lists Kaman at center, so I don't know how it got switched to Jordan. Anywho ...

My thoughts for next year (though I'm unsure of how the salaries add up, but this is just a wish list anyway):

Starters

Rondo
Mayo
Green
Bass
Okafor

Bench

Bradley/?
Allen/Moore
Pierce/Pietrus
?/JJJ
Garnett/Stiemsma

I'd take Kaman this year but i want nothing to do with him for the future, same thing with Jason Terry.

I don't even want Ray Allen back. Any player that could be played over a young draft pick shouldn't be on roster, it's time to either develop talent OR put up enough highlights/numbers that you can convince another team to trade something for him. (Gerald Green, Telfair, Ryan Gomes style)

My ideal realistic team looks something like

starters: Rondo, Pietrus, Pierce, Ryan Anderson, Garnett
bench: Bradley, JuJuan Johnson, Stiemsma, Pavlovic, Omer Asik (acquired in a sign-and-trade for Ray Allen with Jimmy Butler or a future first rounder tossed in), a couple of rookies with a defense-first mentality that earns them minutes (Ainge should avoid drafting anyone who projects to be a possible offense-oriented player with little defensive value), depending on how things shake out contract wise maybe Jeff Green and/or Brandon Bass, a D-League guard or wing who has the potential to be the next Wesley Matthews or Jeremy Lin.  The Celtics may also have Rip Hamilton on the bench if there is a Ray Allen sign-and-trade to Chicago.  If trading Allen to the Bulls isn't an option, then let him walk and look for the best lengthy center you find.

So, a team might look like
PG: Rondo, Bradley
SG: Pietrus, Hamilton, Pavlovic (for depth if there's not a good gamble out there)
SF: Pierce, Green
PF: Anderson, Bass (if he doesn't opt out), JuJuan Johnson
C: Garnett, Asik, Stiemsma

I don't have any strong opinions about who the first round picks should be used on, just that defense should be a priority, but I hope the Celtics can get Yancy Gates of the University of Cincinnati in the second round.  He will probably be undervalued due to the UC-Xavier brawl and it would be nice to have a bench power forward who doesn't need to put on weight to become effective.  Otherwise, just go for the best player available who you think can play defense well enough that Doc Rivers will use him.
