I still think that not only will Kaman be waived, I think there's a good chance that Danny has already spoken with him and/or his agent and he's coming here.

Don't underestimate the impact that our cap space next year will have on his decision.  Any team he signs with will NOT have his Bird Rights.  Thus if he goes to Miami or any other contender, he'd have to to settle for a minimal raise over the minimum, and at best the MLE if he re-signed with them next year.

If he comes here (at least in theory) Danny could re-sign him to a large deal OR help facilitate a sign and trade with the cap room.

I'm leaning towards this as well. Very wishful thinking but I can't understand how Danny would not try and go after Camby or something like that (not sure what he would have needed to do for him) or another big without a very good read on the Kaman situation.

Not sure I understand your theory about the money though. If he's a free agent next year anyway couldn't he just sign with the Celtics then if they want to give him the money? He doesn't have to go to the Celtics this year in order for them to sign him next year.

I think it's more about him and playing time. He would start on our team without question and would play big minutes. I think Miami and San Antonio are big question marks. They both have starting centers who although may not be great, have started for the past couple years and have had success.

Sorry, I don't think that's legal... isn't that called tampering? You can't talk to another team's player or his agent... right? I remember people talking about how Wadena, Boshina, and Lebronda were doing something wrong by talking to each other beforehand about hooking up...
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

To CelticG1, you're right, he could just sign with us.  But if he comes here, get's the PT you mentioned, and fits in, he'd have a better shot working something out with us.

Furthermore, we could still sign and trade him (I believe) something we couldn't do if he wasn't on the team in the first place.

To ImShakHeIsShaq, it absolutely is illegal and it absolutely is tampering, but I'm pretty sure people do it.  I mean how does the league really stop this from happening?

As long as Kaman's agent represents someone else in the league, how could the league prove Danny was talking to the agent about Kaman?  Furthermore, how could the league prove Danny spoke to Kaman or the agent at all?  They aren't the government: they can't subpoena phone records.

While I could be wrong about Kaman getting bought out and coming here, I think if it does happen, there's a very good chance Danny spoke to him today or earlier about the possibility.

Sounds like Kaman won't  be bought out.

WHO ELSE is a candidate? I heard Camby's name on twitter but nothing legit.

ANy more athletics 4's? Be great to get a player not unlike Wilcox for the second unit..

JJJ might have a larger role moving forward, that could be cool if he develops like Bradley has into a useful rotation player.

tough bargain haha but nah i mean I obviously don't know but at this point in the game he really does seem like the best option. I honestly think he'd be productive in an environment like the celtics, away from the toxic bobcats

Antawn Jamison is rumored to be a no.  Is anyone greatly disappointed about that?

Great. Another out of shape guy who has done nothing for two years. Plus, he is barely a power forward. This team needs a center.

Why would you think Danny has spoke with him already?

I was thinking out of SA, Miami and us maybe we actually would have a shot at him if he has to decide...here he would get the most minutes it seems. Miami's set on there rotation they like a small lineup and running, doesn't fit his style. In SA they got 2 centers already and some bigs but you never know. I think it would come down to between us and them.

Word out of New Orleans is that they plan to keep Kaman. Next
