Report: Ray Allen Nearly Traded To Clippers Before Deadline

Bledsoe is a good defender of point guards I know that much. According to clippers analysts, the clippers allow 81 points per 100 possessions with him on court and 96 points per 100 possessions with him off court.

Eh, he has averaged 8 minutes over 16 games so far this season.  That is way too small a sample size to make anything from a stat like that.  It likely has more to do with who he is playing with, and perhaps more importantly, who he is playing against, often in garbage time.  Generally when you are facing the bottom 5 guys on the other teams rosters, then they will be scoring less points than the starters.

why would we trade ray allen to the clippers to make them better and get a worse pick? that makes no sense.

for the players mentioned, i'd rather keep ray allen/cap space than bring in mediocre players on multi year deals.

He has already proved very productive in limited minutes as an energy guy on both ends of the floor.  He has shown good vision and an ability to get to the rim with ease.

I don't know why anybody would be low on him.  Sure, nothing is guaranteed, but I don't see anybody overrating him.

Because I don't see the evidence that he HAS been productive. I have never even noticed him when he's on the court and I'm watching Clippers games. And looking at his numbers he has actually been remarkably UNproductive in the minutes he's been given. His shooting percentages this season are ABYSMAL, and they weren't much better last year, either. He also turns the ball over a lot more than he should. The only positives I see is that he rebounds fairly well for a guard (but that may be due to small sample size), and he has racked up a few steals.

So he's not a complete scrub, but in terms of production he is indistinguishable from about 2 dozen other bench players. So I don't see why people are singling him out specifically. Randy Foye, for example, has been FAR more productive in the minutes he's been given. Heck, Courtney Fortson has been more productive!

Because he's a 2nd year player who's coming off an injury and knee surgery (that's probably why you haven't noticed him much this season, he's barely played). Doesn't make much sense to compare him with Foye.

What people value about Bledsoe, rightly or wrongly, is his potential. His ability as a catch and shoot sniper, his length and sized to defend 1s and 2s, his tremendous athleticism, his superb quickness and explosive first step. And last season he was playing quite well.

Yeah I don't watch a lot of clipper basketball so that's why I stuck with what their analysts believe. That said though Bledsoe is a good defender and a complete pest to our PGs when we played the clips recently.

They've sort of reversed situations this year, too, with Bledsoe coming hot out of the gates in his rookie year only to suffer an injury and get stuck behind veteran guard options in his sophomore season, and vice versa for Bradley.

These two never made sense to me as trade partners for Ray. Bledsoe would be an asset that we'd have to move, if we were to keep Bradley (or vice versa). Not much room for developing either guy's value to then trade them, either.

What else could they have given us (realistically) we want? Only trade I felt could make sense with them would have involved Pierce and / or Ray with Jordan coming back -- which was, of course, a giant long shot.. I wouldn't do that if I were the Clips either.

I wouldn't trade Ray for Eric Blesdoe, and thankfully, neither would Danny, Ryan and the gang.

Bledsoe is too short to be a 2 and has no real point guard instincts.  Great D, similar to Avery, probably a stronger better athlete than Avery but with lesser basketball instincts.  Would have done nothing for the C's, too similar to Avery and Moore.

This seems like the kind of deal Danny would only keep alive to the end if he had another complimentary trade in the works.

Sam Amico also said we were getting beasley and j.j hickson... yeah idk how much I believe out of this guy, I think he takes known facts (clippers interested in ray) and spins it to his liking by saying we were on the verge of trading him... kind of like how the celtics being interested in beasley meant it was a "close deal"

At least he is consistent. He overvalues his vets whether trading them or trading for them. KG and Ray were well worth it at the time. JO and Dooling not so much.

for the record, I'm not saying we should have traded Ray for a package that included Bledsoe.

I'm just saying that Bledsoe is a good young guy with a lot of potential and a valuable asset, which is why people value him accordingly
