Indiana Pacers acquiring guard Leandro Barbosa in a trade with Toronto Raptors, source tells Y!

@SpearsNBAYahoo.

Interesting, nice pickup. They needed some more depth at the 2.

Bird has been chasing a scoring guard who can create off the dribble since the Summer. They were close to sign Crawford.

Personally, I have my doubts. I think they need to strengthen the frontline more or add a pure wing. Barbosa seems to duplicate George Hill a bit too much.

Interesting.  This could pave the way for the C's to get Kaman.  Indy's cap space was the more tempting offer if no one will give up a first for him, but this might take them out of the running and give the C's the chance to get him for expiring contracts and perhaps a second rounder.

Yeah, that was one of my first thoughts. I don't know the numbers on their cab room and Barbosa though, anybody have an idea?

didn't Spears post something that's also on the front page oc CB though saying that due to some trade kickers or contract clauses, the C's can't trade for Kaman unless they give up one of the big three to make the $$ work?

The C's can make the numbers work with a JO + Wilcox + Dooling + pick deal for Kaman.

On the other hand, this probably means that D. Jones and/or AJ Price are out of their rotation, which should be an improvement.

I like AJ Price.

It was a 2nd round pick. We were in on Barbosa too but I'm guessing the Raptors didn't want to take anyone back.

I'm not sure about that. Here are the comments by Steve Bulpett

Chill on the Chris Kaman talk. He'd cost the Celts one of the Big 3 to make the $ work. May be a FA possibility, but only at right price.

Won't argue w/trade checker, but people involved say major player would have to be included. May have to do w/contract clauses.

Barbosa's $7.6 million salary represents a little more than half of Indi's available cap space.

Not sure if the Pacers could still scrape together enough expiring contracts (Foster and Amundson?) to absorb Kaman's contract.

Might have increased the possibility of the Celtics getting Kaman.
