It appears this morning Dwight Howard has changed him mind again and will sign Opt-In contract for next season. The next shoe to fall , is no doubt, the NJ Nets will seek to trade Deron Williams now or risk lose him to Dallas this summer as a free agent.

Do the Celtics get involved with a Rajon Rondo offer?

If DHoward does opt-in for '12-13 season, Nets working on several scenarios to try and surround Deron Williams with talent, sources say.

For Nets, there's no substitute for losing out on Dwight Howard. Future of franchise hinges on keeping Deron Williams now. Drama's thick.

looks like they are trying to surround Deron with talent

this Dwight Howard drama has thrown many teams into a last minute scramble for deals. This is great, this is when bad deals happen. Danny must be sitting back waiting for someone to screw up and make a desperation deal that he can join in on.

How much can you do if you are the Nets? They have a couple of talented players ( MarShon Brooks & Brook Lopez.), however, nothing that will bring in great talent in return. I believe it is only a ploy by Nets to try to get more for Deron. He will no doubt leave this summer for his home town Dallas Mavericks.

Make a deal today for Deron or he is lost!

Nets main asset will be their expiring contracts. Memo Okur and Kris Humphries. Sell them off in combination with first round picks (maybe even MarShon Brooks) for established talent.

Any ideas on what players may be available for that type of package?

Hopefully they grab Beasley for one of those expirings so that the lakers don't get him.

  • Gerald Wallace would be one.
  • Would they make a run at Joe Johnson?
  • Kevin Martin and Luis Scola in Houston
  • Emeka Okafor and a pick?
I am not seeing a lot of options out there. Teams looking for cap dumps.

Maybe the Nets could throw their expirings at Josh Smith. Im sure Atlanta would be looking for more than the Nets have to offer... I think the Nets should just cave and trade Williams, they really don't have pieces to trade and build around Deron. Unless the use Lopez in a deal.

There is no way the Rockets would trade Martin and Scola for that package...

No ..unneeded drama.

No...he doesn't want to play at Boston. Why bring in somebody that don't really want to be at Boston. He and CP3 are the same head jobs. He'll go out west to Mavs this summer . I'm sure LA would love to have him.  Rondos on a good contract .  Need centers and bigs.

great point.   Danny is stalking like big hawk , waiting for a GM to make a mistake or put a guy on the block that he can get good return on.

Hope DA doesn't go after him. Deron seems to be on a collision course with Dallas, so I'd hate to give up assets for him for 20 game rental. If he was enough to make us a contender, I'd consider it. But he addresses none of our weaknesses. We'd actually lose some rebounding if Rondo is traded.

We would have more crunch time scoring. D will is better overall then rose and maybe even wade. He would put us right on par with Miami and Chicago.
