For the second time in this abbreviated NBA season, the Boston Celtics have lost a player to a heart ailment after the team announced Wednesday that forward/center Chris Wilcox will undergo aortic surgery on March 29 and miss the remainder of the season.

What is with this heart ailment... If all the players in the league went through the medical tests that the C's have, would they find more?
I moved the cheese.

Just amazing...I am so glad the Celtics found these issues on Green and Wilcox early.  But it sounds like Wilcox has an aortic aneurysm, what did Green have? A valve problem?

All we can do is hope everything goes well and be thankful these conditions were picked up early.

It was weird enough when Green had heart problems out of nowhere. Now Chris Wilcox too? Its not normal...

Hope these guys recover fully and come back to the league better than ever.

Just shout out for good luck to Chris.  We are sad to see you go.  I really loved this guy's hustle and effort.  Sorry  to see him have such serious health problems but he should know that Celtics fans appreciated his contributions.  Wishing a full recovery and a healthy life moving forward.

Does this void his contract like it did Jeff Green's therefore giving us the MLE back? Or do we at least get a medical exception or whatever its called?

For the record, I loved what Wilcox brought to the game and I wish him the best. I feel sorry for him because YET AGAIN he isn't allowed the opportunity to play in a playoff game.... :(

Chris Wilcox really seemed to embrace finally being a part of a team that was serious about trying to win.  He won me over with his play this season.  I'm saddened by this news and wish Chris the absolute best in recovering from his condition.

What a bummer!

Lordy.  Best wished to Wilcox.

That's a bummer, he was really coming around after a slow start.

Guess that playoff-less streak will stay in tact.
Yup

what are the chances that the celtics lose not one, but two players to the same heart ailment??

I wish wilcox all the best...sad for him, especially since he was looking forward to being on a playoff team

I'd say at this point if I'm a free agent over 6ft 5 I'm not going to Boston lest I gt a heart problem

Wilcox had become my favorite new player.  He loved to play , you could see it on his face.

I hope he can return one to play for the Celtics, I appreciate all he did for the team .

Gods speed .

Ugh. What a blow on many levels... First off wish him the best, thoughts to the family. Second Ive always love Chris as a player and I was estatic when I found out he was coming to the C's. When he was healthy and playing for us he was great in his time and its beyond unfortunate that his time in green has to end so soon.
