Does anyone know the rules on an off-season amnesty?

Could we presumable amnesty Pierce and then sign him for the Vet Minimum?

No we can't resign him for a full year after we Amnesty him.

And the time to amnesty players for this year is past so we can only amnesty him for next year which means the earliest we can resign him is for the 2013-14 season at which point it makes no sense to resign him.

You know, you're probably right, but, I can not find any evidence of this anywhere.  In none of the articles regarding the amnesty process does it specifically preclude a waiving team from re-signing the waived player, just that the player will go through a "modified waiver process". 

The process includes teams under the cap having first rights to sign the player through a "blind auction".  If the player is not signed, he therefore has cleared waivers and is free to sign with any team.

Ok, I did find one article that claims a team can not re-sign a waived player.  No supporting evidence was provided though.

Nope.  Neither article says anything about it specifically.  They just detail the "auction process".

Like I said above, I'm pretty certain a team can not re-sign a player they amnesty, I just can't find any concrete evidence.

I am not sure why the league needs to confirm it.  They have released copies of the CBA to guys like Larry Coon, but Coon anyways is still in the process of combing through it.

I also believe Coon has confirmed via twitter that this is the case with this rule, and like I said, he has seen the actual CBA.

Here's CBA expert Larry Coon summarizing the details of the amnesty clause in a chat.

* A team can use amnesty one time and one time only.

* Amnesty is available before each season. If they used it in a prior season, they can’t use it again.

* Amnesty can only be used for players who were with the team on 12/9. If they sign a new contract or were traded, they can’t be amnestied.

* The team waives the player. They still have to pay his salary, but he comes off their cap and tax.

* The team that waives the player cannot re-sign or re-acquire the player for the length of his contract.

* Teams under the cap can claim the player before he clears waivers with a partial bid.

* The team with the highest partial bid gets to keep the player.

* The winning team has to pay the player’s salary according to their bid.

* The team that waives the player gets to reduce what they owe the player by the amount of the winning team’s bid.
