The point of this thread is not to figure out if Danny says he was going to trade Rondo, it's just to find out who is accountable for saying that they had a source, the reason this rumor just keeps on going.

Yeah, I understand what this entire thread is about (thanks).  My question to you is: Does it really matter at this point?  You just heard it from the "Horse's mouth" that he's not going to trade Rondo.  Rival GM's, Pseudo-Insiders, and Internet bloggers are all to blame.  Just let it go, brah.

No I think it's a good idea to take these people to task, atleast raise some awareness of what poor quality these reports are.

Hoopshype didn't say they had sources. Many of us speculated in the same way to Mitch's quote.

Basically, if Chris Broussard said he had sources and he didn't, we should not forget who started it (attach his name to following reports) and we should all be aware that the reason people are hypothesizing about Rondo's poor trade value and off court issues, nagging our players about trades etc. is because Chris Broussard is a bad reporter.

Ok, Doc confirmed it on WEEI last night on the "Big Show".

Doc says it started with Chris Broussard and says "He's usually professional about stuff like that". He was annoyed that the guy never even called and that the idea that they were shopping Rondo was completely based on NOTHING.

So once again HoopsHyped laid out their interpretation of a quote and never claimed to have a source.

Chris Broussard insinuated he had a source (i guess he just enjoys reading HoopsHype) when he didn't and didn't bother to even call the Celtics. He got ESPN page views and segments for weeks earning them tens of thousands of dollars, created an influx of calls from other GM's to the C's, meanwhile putting Rondo and the team on edge and bringing up theories about Rondo's bad chemistry with the team as a reason why nothing will go through.

Actually, Hoopsworld *did* say they had sources.

Additionally, sources have told HOOSPWORLD that the Boston Celtics do have interest in Gasol for their All-Star point guard.

That was the quote that started it all.  Then, it went Hoopsword --> Vecsey --> speculation by Larry Coon --> Broussard
