Let's get to the bottom of the trade that has been consistently rumored around the league for over a month and threatened the chemistry of our team and potentially the trade value of our rising star.

Who first reported it? Was it Chris Broussard? Let's not let them hide among the sites and blogs who have acted like an echo chamber, burying their involvement - shielding them from criticism.

We need to start holding these people responsible for creating / reporting these rumors, luckily for them Danny Ainge will deny anything, therefore giving them an excuse when it often doesn't pan out.

If we can figure out who reported it / started the rumor, we can figure out who they are connected to (common sources they've used in the past).

Why should we care that much? Rondo's trade value / image is being tarnished and they are over exaggerating off-court issues as the reason trades aren't going through (if he is involved in these talks at all). Not to mention a big distraction for our players and hurting the faith of the fans.

So...where did it start? I first heard it from Chris Broussard at ESPN.com

Jimmy T already did this. Look for his article from a couple of weeks ago on the front page

Summarization of the main points:

The quote that started it all from Mitch Kupchak:

Quote
"Well, if there were a way for us to get a 25-year-old, All-Star, ball-handling guard we’d love to do it … but that’s not likely in February. So you look at other alternatives, and see if it’s better than what you have. That’s all."

And ok...looks like this is the article thats started all, but still need to find the first person that said My Sources are saying:

So that being said we still need to figure out who the first person to claim they had a source was because hoopsworld admits it was a guess based on Mitch's quote.

Hoopsworld should not get the blaim.

Chris Broussard was the first to say "My sources tell me..."

Which should have made the whole scenario invalid but I digress...

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Chris Broussard sucks.
He's full of crap.

This is the same clown that said the Clippers would win it all this year.
Now he's backing down after Chauncey's injury.
Joker.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Hoopsworld should not get the blaim.

"Blame" is not something anyone in particular should get, or will.

But as for who caused it, HoopsHype speculated without real grounds on who the point guard might be. Then other people picked that up, passing off that speculation as 'rumor'.

Its lazy reporters basically re-tweeting someone else's lazy reporting. And, when the tide gets high enough, everyone else says it too, cuz if SAS tweeted it, its probably true.

I think that was actually Eric Pincus for Hoopsworld. I don't think Hoopshype reported this speculation themselves but rather posted Hoopsworld's article on their rumor page.

Either way, same criticism.

The point of this thread is not to figure out if Danny says he was going to trade Rondo, it's just to find out who is accountable for saying that they had a source, the reason this rumor just keeps on going.

Yeah, I understand what this entire thread is about (thanks).  My question to you is: Does it really matter at this point?  You just heard it from the "Horse's mouth" that he's not going to trade Rondo.  Rival GM's, Pseudo-Insiders, and Internet bloggers are all to blame.  Just let it go, brah.  :)

Reminds me of this:

Naturally Broussard is the lazy writer, Hoopshype is Wikipedia, and more credible writers are...well, more credible writers in this scenario.

What does holding them responsible consist of?  Shaking our virtual fists at them?  Or are we gonna have 2 dozen anchovy pizzas delivered to their office or something?
