What's the Spurs-Wolves-Jazz rumour?

It's Hoopsworld, so get a salt lick ready.

Quote
The San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves are discussing a three-team deal, according to sources close to the situation. Nothing is imminent, but the teams will continue to talk over the next two days. In the rumored deal, the Spurs would acquire Josh Howard, the Timberwolves would acquire C.J. Miles and Jamaal Tinsley and the Jazz would acquire Danny Green and Wayne Ellington. Other players and draft picks will likely be included in the finalized trade.

Spurs trade Danny Green for Josh Howard? Hmmm.
First reaction -- good trade for Minnesota, pointless trade for San An and Utah

Second reaction -- good trade for all involved. Minny gets talent. Utah gets cap flexibility. More of a 50-50 deal that could go either way for San Antonio. Interesting risk to take so long as they use Josh Howard as a big two guard preferably as a starter with Manu Ginobili playing the 6th man role. If J.Howard takes any of K.Leonard's minutes, it's a losing proposition for San Antonio.

Nah, actually, I still don't like it for San Antonio. It's an interesting risk to take but not one worth taking. I would've kept Danny Green. Stability and dependability over risk / upside.

My take too. What do you gain trading Green for Howard? Nothing. Don't even know if the numbers work.

Shot-creation. I think Josh Howard can still be an effective mid-post and low post scorer as a big two guard. A lousy shot-creator as a three though.

I think that is the only possible gain for them in that swap.

Isn't Monta/Jennings similar to Monta/Curry?
It's worse. Jennings is much more ball-dominant than Curry is and can't play off the ball unlike Curry.

I like this trade for GSW - if Bogut manages to get health, I love it for them. Its a big risk, but that's how you get the big rewards.

Green doesn't have a ton of upside but he's looking a lot like he could be a very good glue guy for a winning team for several years.  Howard...maybe better this year, maybe not, but doesn't seem like enough of an upgrade to really help the team.

It's just a rumor at this point, though, so who knows what'll happen.

What if Milwaukee flips Monta? Have a feeling there's another domino to fall there. Bucks are the 8th seed right now, and just traded two guys who aren't playing for them for a dynamic scorer.

I've seen rumors that this trade might be part of a chain that will lead to Ellis in Orlando.  Perhaps the talk of Jason Richardson possibly being traded to Minnesota (for Beasley?) may give Orlando a piece they can send in a package to Milwaukee.  That may just be wishful thinking on the part of some fans, though.

I think Monta stays in Milwaukee and Jennings is gone.

Let's face it neither Jackson nor Bogut have really played this year and the Bucks are currently an 8th seed. jennings has already been doing research on big market teams and been rumored to be on his way out of Milwaukee.

So if you take the nucleus that's been playing most of this season in Milwaukee which is:

Jennings/Udrih
Livingston/Dunleavy
Delfino/Harris
Ilyasova/Mbah a Moute/Leuer
Gooden/Sanders/Brockman

Sub out Ellis for Jennings and Udoh for Mbah a Moute and package Jennings and Mbah a Moute to another team for picks and a player, I think the team is short term and long term better.

Bogut's question mark is gone and apparently he and Skiles were on the outs. Jackson, the locker room cancer is gone. Monta is a much better first offensive option all around than Jennings. Udoh is an upgrade defensively at PF over LRMAM and has better long range potential and they get a pick out of moving Jennings.

Rumors that GState may reroute Jackson to another destination. Would be smart. Give minutes to Klay, and play out the season.

Warriors finish in the bottom 7, they keep their own 1st rounder. Otherwise, it ends up going to Utah (via Jersey).

Bucks beat writer Gery Woelfel says that Houston offered Luis Scola, Samuel Dalembert, a first round pick, and other considerations for Bogut and Jackson.

Stephen Jackson could be a good low price risk for Orlando to take.

They could probably get Jackson without giving up a draft pick.

Maybe a swap of bad contracts (J-Rich for Jacks) or an expiring contract (Redick). Maybe Hedo.

HUGE win for Golden State.

This paves the way for Steph Curry to reach stardom.  Ellis was an overrated ballhog holding him back.  Awesome.

Milwaukee should bring Monta Ellis off the bench in a super-sub scorer role ala Jason Terry.

C  - Gooden, Udoh
PF - Ilyasova, Mbah a Moute
SF - Harris, Dunleavy
SG - Delfino, Monta
PG - Jennings, Livingston
