Wow. Rumblings of Bogut to Golden State for a little while seem to have been true.

A Jennings-Ellis backcourt does seem odd. Rumor has it Milwaukee had an offer for Jennings "that it liked," but turned down. Maybe they revisit now.

Heard rumors of a Spurs-Jazz-Wolves deal just now. Tomorrow is the "deadline" for Orlando to add a piece before they shift to trading Howard.

Fun times.

Awful trade for Milwaukee. They would have been better off getting an expiring contract than Monta Ellis because they are not setup to succeed with a player like Ellis.

Risky trade for Golden State. I wouldn't have traded for Bogut given his injury predicament so I don't really like it but if Bogut can get healthy, it's a major win for them.

Not wild about Stephen Jackson alongside Steph Curry. Too ball-dominant. I would have preferred to have seen Curry get full control of the reigns rather than continuing to have to share them.

But Jacks does give them some much needed physical toughness / defensive presence on the wing which will certainly be a welcome sight. A Curry, Jacks, D.Wright perimeter combo is superior to Curry, Monta, D.Wright.

What's the Spurs-Wolves-Jazz rumour?

It's Hoopsworld, so get a salt lick ready.

The San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves are discussing a three-team deal, according to sources close to the situation. Nothing is imminent, but the teams will continue to talk over the next two days. In the rumored deal, the Spurs would acquire Josh Howard, the Timberwolves would acquire C.J. Miles and Jamaal Tinsley and the Jazz would acquire Danny Green and Wayne Ellington. Other players and draft picks will likely be included in the finalized trade.

Spurs trade Danny Green for Josh Howard? Hmmm.

I don't know what to make of this trade.

For Milwaukee, I understand wanting to clear some bad contracts and to get a good prospect back in Udoh, but I don't think a team can succeed with Ellis as its best player.

For Golden State, it's a big risk, as Bogut is one of the more fragile players in the NBA.  I like the fit of him beside David Lee and with Curry on that team, but I just don't have a ton of faith in Bogut's health.

I guess I like it better for Golden State, as there's at least a chance it works out.

Love it for Golden State as long as S-jax gets his head right. If he doesn't or continues to cry for an extension while shooting 30% from the field, Golden state would be better served buying him out and giving all those minutes to Thompson.
Best long term decision is to waive Jacks and give Klay Thompson 30-35mpg regardless of how well Jacks plays or behaves.

Develop the young talent better (both S.Curry and K.Thompson, heck even D.Wright) + lose more games and get a better draft pick.

What if Milwaukee flips Monta? Have a feeling there's another domino to fall there. Bucks are the 8th seed right now, and just traded two guys who aren't playing for them for a dynamic scorer.

Spurs trade Danny Green for Josh Howard? Hmmm.
First reaction -- good trade for Minnesota, pointless trade for San An and Utah

Second reaction -- good trade for all involved. Minny gets talent. Utah gets cap flexibility. More of a 50-50 deal that could go either way for San Antonio. Interesting risk to take so long as they use Josh Howard as a big two guard preferably as a starter with Manu Ginobili playing the 6th man role. If J.Howard takes any of K.Leonard's minutes, it's a losing proposition for San Antonio.

Nah, actually, I still don't like it for San Antonio. It's an interesting risk to take but not one worth taking. I would've kept Danny Green. Stability and dependability over risk / upside.

I like it for Milwaukee if they flip Monta for some expiring contracts and quality draft pick(s).

Yeah, I think this was a simple value trade for Milwaukee.  They turned an overpaid problem child and a guy whose career is starting to mirror Yao's into a talented young scorer, a promising young big, and a decent amount of cap space this summer.

Now, I am not sure they will make their next move before Thursday, but this was the move of a team putting themselves into a position to reload after making way too many shortsighted deals over the last few years just to win a couple games.

My take too. What do you gain trading Green for Howard? Nothing. Don't even know if the numbers work.

I don't think the Bucks GM John Hammond is the type of GM who'll go for a long term rebuilding process. He is from the Joe Dumars school of thought that you always try to win as much possible and improve that way.

So, I would be surprised if Monta was brought in to be moved on again for additional assets. I think this is part of their long term thinking.
