Quote
The Nets' plan is to sign Dwight Howard outright this summer, re-sign Deron Williams and re-sign Brook Lopez on an annual salary of approximately $10 million, according to sources.

Should the c's offer a 12 mil per deal?

Besides Howard, Lopez is probably the most talented center available.  McGee is dumb and Indiana probably matches any offers for Hibbert. I know Lopez is pretty soft, but the guy can score .

I wouldn't mind offering him 10-12 mil per if we miss out on Dwight .

Uncertain

I wish he'd have played more games this season. I wanted to see if his rebounding recovered to previous season levels. Only five games played and they were a miserable five games on the boards. Makes me very uncomfortable.

I wanted to have a better grip on his rebounding before deciding how much I'd be willing to invest. Going above $10 million without knowing that would be a very big risk.

I call Shenanigans! The Nets are trying to create a projected market for Lopez to set his trade value.

What they want is for ORL, GSW or any other bidder to say "okay, Lopez is going to cost $10M per season, which is pretty freaking reasonable. If that's the contract he's looking for, maybe we should consider this trade."

Howard in NJ = Bye, bye Brook.

Agree with Huzy - if D12 is in NJ, Lopez isn't there. They're not gonna play him at PF, and $10m per seems a steep price to pay for a backup center.

The only reason why Lopez would re-sign with Howard in town is if he said, "now I REALLY don't have to worry about rebounding! Great! Let's do it."

...actually, wouldn't put it passed him.  ::)

Yeah I'd rather not pay big money for a guy who refuses to rebound. I'm tired of watching us getting killed night after night. I'd rather have McGee

If you didn't have to trade anything to get him, I would rather roll the dice on Andrew Bogut being healthy than sign Lopez or McGee.

So you would rather Javale at 10 million per than brook?

I believe so.

My strategy would be this if Dwight Howard is not traded to NJ, LAL, LAC, MIA, or DAL because if he is not traded to one of these teams then NJ will keep Williams and try to acquire Howard via Free Agency.

When Free Agency opens I get Lopez to sign an offer sheet that if matched makes NJ unable to offer a MAX deal to both Deron and Dwight. With the new CBA teams only have three days to match offer sheets to Restricted Free Agents. I then hope that as NJ waits on Dwight we would be in position to pry Lopez away and pair him with Rondo.

This could potentially be a banner making signing or a multi-year stinker.

Oft injured, non-a-defender and rebound allergic but a hell of an offensive talent. Sounds like Al Jeff but with more injuries and less rebounds...hmm...

Dude rebounds like a small forward, let him stay in New Jersey so Rondo can outrebound him every time they play.
