Too many bad news... But I'm gonna try to look at the bright side.. DA (hopefully) makes some good moves by the trade deadline and things should turn around for this team.. If we peak at the right time towards the end of regular season, and we're healthy come playoff time, I'd expect another cinderella run for the championship... This time with a better finish!

Quote
"As if the Celtics needed anything else to worry about with their bigs, rookie center Greg Stiemsma, who did not play the final 13 minutes on Sunday, left the Staples Center with a walking boot on his right foot, apparently a precautionary measure as he moved around the locker room without issue immediately after the game. Stiemsma endured right foot ailments while in college at Wisconsin. "

Wow,I'm not even surprised anymore. Just break the team up so we can get into the lottery, there is no way the c's can compete without a few legit centers .(Steamer obviously isn't a legit NBA center)

With Wilcox and JO out for the year it's time to get as many assets as possible without taking back long term contracts or trading Rondo.

Only good news I can think of is JJJ will finally get some mins tonight....Or maybe Doc will stick with the vets and play kg 48 mins at center against LAC ::)

The Celtics sure have a flexible definition of precautionary these days.

Wilcox has needed monthly tests on his heart for the last four or five years, but it wasn't for any sort of actual condition, just for the possibility that such a condition could develop.

Now that Steamer's the only backup up at the 5 they seem to want to put his foot in a boot, just because he'd had problems with it in college five or six years ago.

Next thing you know, Pierce's head wrap is going to be back for his press conferences--just in case some sort of head injury were to develop in the future.

Did Doc run over a black cat or something ?, this is now starting to get re-freaking-diculous.

One's got to wonder what sort of shape Sheed is in, given that neither Miami nor the Lakers seem to have taken the bait.

But there is something to be said for adding a body that's played for Doc already and at least kind of knows the system.  Erden, for example, is probably worth at least a bit more because of that.

Actually, if I'm Danny I don't sign a vet.  I add up to two rookie types, whether from d-league, abroad or wherever.  That should give Doc a pretty good incentive to play Stiemer and some 3J too.  Both I think would gain from the time playing and the C's could certainly get a better idea of what they've got in 3J.

Stiemer may not be that quick, but even he, however, would be slowed playing with a boot--so let's hope that passes.

Okay, there's not too much information here, but here's an article on Stiemer's foot injury his freshman year of college:

http://www.uwbadgers.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/111804aaa.html

Stiemsma To Miss Time With Foot Injury

Wisconsin freshman center Greg Stiemsma will miss approximately six to eight weeks with a right foot injury, the UW Sports Medicine Staff announced Thursday. The injury was first reported last week and medical tests have since determined that Stiemsma would need to sit out.

Right now our goal is to get Greg the treatment he needs to be able to get back on the court, head coach Bo Ryan said. Like Ive said in the past, I believe we have the best medical personnel available for our student-athletes. Greg has a great work ethic and I am confident he will be dedicated in his rehabilitation.
Stiemsma, a 6-11 center, played 16 minutes in the Badgers exhibition opener vs. UW-Parkisde. He grabbed seven rebounds and scored four points to go along with two blocked shots, a steal and an assist. He sat out the UWs second exhibition game vs. UW-Platteville.

Wisconsin opens the season this Saturday, Nov. 20, at home vs. Penn. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. CT.

How many refs does it take to change a light bulb?   ;)

  • It's not hard to work hard.
Look, the C's weren't going to win a championship with JO/Wilcox/Stiemsma or without them. So it makes zero sense to make a trade and lock themselves into a headcase like Blatche just so we can....what? Make the second round *maybe*?

I know it sucks to watch them losing these games, but it makes less sense to make a panic trade to "blow it up" than it does to ride out the season and start rebuilding in earnest in the offseason. I'm just not convinced that there are that many trades available to the C's that would improve them in the short term without sacrificing long term.
McHale's favorite ruse is putting paper in the mouths of sleeping teammates. "Try using one of these cocktail napkins," he said. "When just the edge sticks out of a guy's mouth, it looks like he's got fangs. The best part is when he wakes up."
