if you can somehow land kaman and beasley/diaw without trading the big  4 you have a shot , but that's very doubtful

If you somehow land Kaman and beasley/diaw without trading the big 4... then you'll basically be closer to the 2011 Celtics... a team that wasn't good enough to win the title, but at least stretched the Heat to 5 games in the 2nd round.  Beasley = Green.  Kaman = Krstik.

Now of course, the Heat are a heck of a lot better this year... so even so, we're probably getting swept in the 2nd round.

Without the basketball gods gifting us Beasley and Kaman for nothing, we probably aren't getting out of the 1st round.

We are 0-9 against Contenders this year.  I have zero reason to believe this team can hang with any team worth their salt.

It depends on the big man. Maybe two would be better if Wilcox can't play.

For example,
1) take Okafor's contract plus the Hornets pick for JON+Wilcox, 2) move Bass+Dooling for Ilyasova+Udrih
with those two deals I think they are contenders if the team manages to gel in the short period till the playoffs.

Tell ya what...

A lot of people think the Magic are going to "hang onto" Dwight and not trade him in the next 4 days even though it's pretty much a given he'll sign with Brooklyn in the offseason.   If you're gripping to that hope, you might as well grasp at the idea that the Magic will buy out Dwight in 4 days.  Why not, right?  If they are content in losing him for nothing, why not just lose him for nothing right now ?  lol

So ... i'll give you this... if the Magic buy out Dwight in 4 days and he joins the Celtics for the vet min, we stand a shot of making it out of the 2nd round of the playoffs.

So technically we are "one big man away".  Lol

I we can somehow get Kaman, and Beasley... the answer is still I don't know. But were a heck of a lot closer. You would add Beaseley and Bass to the bench which makes that a lot better.

JO + Clippers pick for Bease.
Moore + Marquise + Our first for Kaman.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
No, and even if it were Chris Kaman isn't that guy.

Well the last two I would say the Celtics have a pretty solid shot at. Diaw will probably get a buyout, but the question with him has always been conditioning related. With Beasley, the Wolves want to trade him and feel like they need to make the move. Has value isn't that high, if the Celtics can land him for JO's contract and the Clippers 1st then make the deal. Kaman has too big of a contract to move, but could be a possibility after the deadline if New Orleans are allowed to buy him out. Then again why wouldn't he just take the buyout and go to the Miami Heat?

So, LarBrd33 - you don't even have a SMIDGEN of hope, here?

If we somehow got Kaman, without touching the Core Four, or Bass......MIA had better watch out.

I'd even consider that Clip pick...Kaman is 29?

So you don't think that if THIS RONDO (one who played tonight), plus Kaman...I'd even go as far to say a healthy Wilcox or JO...couldn't beat MIA or CHI?

C'mon man...where is the love, here :)..

Have to be the right big man in my opinion.  Just any big won't make a difference.  But a rebounding one that has a low post game would really help us.

Really?

This team as currently constructed would have to be one of the favorites if all it did was add Dwight.

There's that 0-9 against contenders comment again.  Can you please explain which teams are contenders and which aren't?  I know we aren't 0-9 against the Bulls, Heat, and Thunder.

Agree, we'll be a whole lot better if we get Kaman and B-Easy. Kaman is way better than Krstic. He gives us a low post presence that we desperately need. He rebounds well. He is slow but we need a big right now. And with Beasly coming off the bench to provide scoring along with Bass' energy, we would have a competitive bench.  We are better than the 2011 C's with Kaman and Beasley. LarBrd33 just probably don't like both players.
