Either way... this is a bad situation...
Dude, Wilcox is
not that good. He is not that bad, either, and his loss leaves us really thin up front.
I look at it this way - JO was a good defender at the 5, but gave us little on the boards and on O. Wilcox gives us a little more offensive skill and certainly more athleticism at the 4/5, but his rebounding was subpar and he was a backup.
We replace their minutes with Stiemer, who is a liability defending in space but is a good rim defender, and is a better rebounder than JO, and probably is a better offensive option than JO too. We replace Wilcox with JJJ, lose some beef and muscle and experience, probably hurts us defensively, but we actually gain athleticism and offense and who knows what he can do with Rondo on the break.
Danny can use JO, Wilcox, and Dooling as expirings to pick up a serviceable 4/5 with a focus on rebounding and defense, to support the extra minutes.
And...this team is going as far as Rondo, Ray, PP, Bass, and KG can take us. It's the same team we had last year, just replace BBD and Bass which is an upgrade. And don't forget that Rondo is in Beast Mode.
