Seems that we are at a crossroads. Which way do we want to go? Which way do you think Danny will go. Only 4 days to decide.

1. Stand Pat: Danny planned for this all along from the time he put the Big three together and in the ensuing years by not being contract committed after this year, except Pierce/Rondo.

We can just play with what we got and maybe be in the lottery, but most likely be in that fringe of the playoffs netherworld of mediocrity, one and done and a lesser draft pick.

2. We can trade any and all of the core 4 to compile assets: talent, picks, younguns and most likely end up in the lottery, especially if we play the youngsters to develop.

3. We can try to compete this year by trading some portion of our core 4 for a center who could be had: Gasol, Kaman, Bogut (won't be back soon enough to help us this year), Jefferson or someone else you can think of. Maybe we could even squeeze a draft pick with the center.

4. We can leave the core 4 intact, and trade expirings and the Clippers pick or both picks for either Kaman or McGee/Blatche or someone that you think we might get. At least Kaman expires this year.

I am hoping for choice #3 or #4, but we have just so many fingers to plug the holes in the dike.

I am now sadly voting for 2. (this one's for you, Pos, you've been at this position for awhile).

losing Wilcox sucks, but it's not like he was the missing link to this team's success.  but we are now very thin down low.

the only thing we should do is trade JO's contract for help.  no picks should be traded. JJJ should not be traded.  i don't see any team giving us what we definitely need to catapult up the ranks to definite Finals contender, rather than the long shot we are now.  so try to fill in the gap if possible, as cheap as possible, and if not JJJ and Stiemer will have to pick it up.

agree, I wouldn't give up any good first round picks (maybe late one though) and not any of the four or JJJ
I would look at bass for a good upgrade and bigger player or daniels, dooling, moore
I'd want to keep pietrus and feel steisma and jjj will develop for us nicely next year.  JJJ already has the pro offense just rest of package.
kamen for bass and whatever contract makes it work (dooling hopefully)

So far the majority of pollees seem to be for mortgaging the future (trading picks) to plug the C's now cavernous hole in the frontcourt this season.

I had posted this idea a bit ago and it makes more sense now.  Ben Wallace, don't think it would take much to get him, he has stated he is retiring.  Still a rebounding force and wouldn't need to do that much for us, rebound, run the floor and play as good defense as he can

this. I chose stand pat. I don't see any real magic ways out of this. I think any trade of our big 4 will involve us taking pennies on the dollar and I'd rather not

This surprises me a little.

I can see trading expirings and fringe players to make $$$ match, but the picks, not so much.

I think we should be accruing picks as much as we can.

the "develop" part of that question is why people are choosing it.  i promise no team will give us the kind of player many people are hoping for.

Out indefinitely can mean entire season or 1 week until tests are complete.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I don't see how Wilcox being hurt should trigger any kind of major response anymore than Marquis getting hurt last year.

If Danny was gonna blow it up, he should still blow it up. If he was gonna wait n see, he should wait n see.

Trading mid to late 1st round picks for a veteran rentals to compete this season is not mortgaging the future.

Im not making any deals until we see what the verdict on wilcox is...Even if he is out the entire year I dont go into a panic finding a replacement. Im not blowing up the team just for the sake of blowing it up... If we can get a solid borderline all star who is young an athletic for Allen or Garnett then yes I do it... But at this point im not searching for desperation deals, Im listening for conversations where players like Smith, Howard, or even Gasol come up. Other than that, Im not wasting our cap room just for the sake of "blowing it up."

Standing pat is unacceptable. Either blow the present up to prepare the future or mortgage the future to compete in the present.
