In today's post match doc said "there is going to be 9 guys and that'll be it" and there would be a 10th that got very shortened minutes.

Under the assumption that we are quiet at the deadline that rotation is?

Rondo
Ray
Pierce
Garnett
Bass
Wilcox
Pietrus
Avery
Dooling

and the junk time guys are

steamer
3J
moore
pavlovic

At the moment I'm not in favour of Dooling getting those 9th man minutes at all, but it seems that Doc has transferred his Glen Davis love affair over to Keyon. I would much rather a bit of E'Twaun and 3J as with those 9 current guys we've really got no shot anyway.

Thoughts?

I think Doc disagrees with this part of your thinking.

If JO gets healthy again, I think he would replace someone. Probably Dooling. Not saying that's the best move, just that Doc probably would think he can contribute some. :-\

I think Dooling is fine as the last guard of the rotation. Of the guards left on the team, he's the best defender, he can play both positions, he's best at going to the basket and in the open floor, and is probably the best shooter though he has been in a terrible shooting slump from outside over the last couple weeks.

I'm fine with this rotation. If they can move O'Neal, Daniels, and/or one of the young guys for a real life center that could make it a ten man rotation, that would be even better.

Yeah they've got to get rid of JO....I didn't think it was possible that he could contribute less than last year yet here we are.

Just an aside, but when Doc says something like that it never seems to work out.

Absolutely. I don't think Wilcox, Bass and KG is enough as a big man rotation when considering you'd play KG 33 minutes in the playoffs, probably Bass around 30 and you don't want Wilcox up near 30, probably closer to 20. They need 15 minutes out of either JO or somebody they manage to acquire. Obviously, Odom or Kaman would be ideal here if we are dreaming. We'd all like Johnson to step up, but he clearly doesn't have Doc's trust yet.

At the 1, you've got 38 minutes for Rondo and 10 for Bradley. Pretty straightforward, I think. At the 2 and 3, you can get away with 36 for Pierce and Ray and 20 for Pietrus, and throw Dooling out there if someone needs a break.

So right now I'm seeing 1-3 as pretty manageable with our current roster, although lacking in quality depth, but missing a big man. Either way, I'd expect to see some sort of deal to fill in the blanks unless Wilcox proves worthy of 30 minutes or Johnson steps up. That's an 8-man rotation, although I guess Dooling can take up some 1/2 minutes as well. Either way, it leaves no space for any sort of injury in the top 9.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

I would add Josh Smith, Gerald Wallace, Darko, ,Beasley, Jordan Hill, Biedrins, and Camby to the list of potential rotation trade additions but overall I agree

Yeah, the problem is that if we are looking for another piece, that limits our options to trading JO, Dooling and picks. I don't see that getting Smith or Wallace. The others I'd love to have. We could trade one of the 8, but then you're still left with that hole.

Gotta upgrade the Dooling and Bass roles to be a contender.  Bass is fine as a 7th man, but not as a starter, 5th best guy on a contender.  Dooling isn't good enough to be in a serious playoff rotation at this point.

I'd love to see a JO/Dooling/pick for Odom/Beaubois deal.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Eh, I think Bass is fine in his current role and disagree that he can't be the 5th or 6th best player on a contender. He's better or at least as good as Haslem, anybody on the Lakers outside of their three, etc. It'd be nice to have him be the 6th or 7th best player on the team but upgrades for JO and Dooling seem more pressing to me.

On this team, the 5th best guy needs to be better.  We don't have a LeBron James and D-Wade at the top of our pecking order.

J-Cube should have Dooling's spot, and Moore the swingman ... this kid is being highly under-utilized, and Keyon has not impressed me a bit ... no matter where he's been.
