These stats show something I have always thought, +/- is a team stats and says more about the players a person plays with than that player. This is why we see so many Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami and San Antonio players at the top of the list.

Gotta say, the Novak and Vince Carter stats are mind blowing. I don't see either being so good on either side of the ball to be head and shoulders above the rest of their team mates in this category. Must be some sort of anomaly.

These stats show something I have always thought, +/- is a team stats and says more about the players a person plays with than that player. This is why we see so many Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami and San Antonio players at the top of the list.

Gotta say, the Novak and Vince Carter stats are mind blowing. I don't see either being so good on either side of the ball to be head and shoulders above the rest of their team mates in this category. Must be some sort of anomaly.

+/- is a very flawed stat.  Some people have mentioned how Chicago was better when Rose was off the court last season than when he was playing. 

A much better stat, in my opinion, is points per possession and points allowed per possession.  If you can see how a team's scoring and defense change with a player on or off the court, you get a better sense of their relative worth.  It's still flawed because teammates and opponents have such a large impact on those numbers.

What a useless Geek stat! Watch the game intently & you can see what a players worth is, most of those stats that were not around 10yrs. Ago are flawed. Baseball stats are even worse!

Youn can use adujusted plus-minus, which accounts for players on the floor for both teams.

Of course, I can see how some people would be skeptical of stat that has only Garnett, Pietrus, and O'Neal as the Celtics with positive value this season.

I don't know anything about +/- but it looks like it says what I believe... KG is our most important player (he has one negative on the chart)!!! It also says ray has the worse +/- of all of our top players (people who actually play)... I know Ray's defense has been putrid (to me at least) but like I said before, I don't know what all this means! Oh and RR's +/- on defense 0.0... he isn't as bad as Ray but wow, seems to say he is the second worse of the guys who see serious time.

  I would think that any plus-minus for the Celts this year would be wacky because there's been such a wide variation in the level of play we've seen from players.

Agreed -- but there are some very interesting anomalies (e.g. Novak) that indicate something good (or bad) is going on with a particular individual.
