Sorry, but I don't believe it. We have worked out the scenarios over and over again. Nothing adds up.
Rondo is the best (overall) player on the team. He is also the youngest all-star we have. If we trade him, we must get either an all-star or a high 1st round pick back. Anything less would be a disaster. Steph Curry included.
KG is playing the best basketball of anyone on the team. We all talk about how Ray or even PP would be a good addition to a contender, but KG could take a 6th seed and turn them into favorites right away. You know, like he did for us. But he makes $21 million, meaning we would have to take on some god awful contract to make a trade work with him. I am confident that will NOT happen.
PP is going to retire a Celtic. He is playing like crap right now too so his trade value is actually going down. He might be hurt. But he is going to retire a Celtic.
I have previously mentioned that Ray is the best "value" of the Big 4 in terms of trade, because he is a 36 y.o. SG and if you trade a 36 y.o. SG for a 1st round pick or a young talent that's typically a steal. Plus we could always resign him in the offseason (KG I am not so sure about.)
That leaves J.O,'s expiring deal, Bass, picks, and our young guys. I am sorry but unless I am blown away Avery Bradley is untouchable. JJJ is tradeable but I am very hesitant to move him for someone like Beasley. Moore is expendable. I'd prefer to keep our 1st round picks but we have 2 this year so one can be moved.
As someone mentioned in another thread, Bass is the most logical trade piece. He probably won't be extended next year so this fits the "Perkins Corollary" of Trades: do not let guys walk away because you dont want to pay them - trade them and get value back. There is the player option with Bass but we have no idea if he takes that or not.
If any trades are made, I'd like to see them made with J.O., Bass, maybe JJJ, Moore, a 2012 1st rounder, and maybe some future picks. You could talk me into Ray if we were in true blowup mode.
