While I'd prefer to keep the 2008 core together through the rest of the season, win or lose, it wouldn't surprise me if half the current 12-man roster is gone before the trade deadline is over.

I'm going to enjoy this team as much as I can over the next few games -- wins or losses. Too many great memories with this core...

Sounds like Rondo, JO, and probably a bench player/pick or two are likely to be moved. I doubt Ray and Pierce go anywhere. I love Bass and Pietrus but they're also terrific trade pieces. Hope they stay.

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

rondo is probably the biggest fan favorite for celtics fans since last season. that would be huge if he goes.

Ehh, I think he may be third behind KG and PP (especially, without any doubt, behind PP)!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I'm not a big RR fan but I'm against trading him just because he is difficult to handle! If we get the same value in return and it makes the team better I'm all for it. Otherwise I say keep RR! I'm for sure against a trade where we trade RR for Pau. Really bad for a somewhat more distant future. I wouldn't mind a trade for Curry if his ankle troubles aren't structural!

Exactly. The guy is a triple double threat PG on any given night. There are TEAM MEETINGS and player meetings to resolve this kind of issues. I agree with everything you just said. Unless we trade ROndo for Deron Williams (extension signed of course) Steph Curry and picks and good bench players, lets not trade our arguably the best player of the team.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons

Rondo sells more jerseys than any other Celtic. Last season he had the 3rd best selling jersey in the entire NBA. No other Celtic in the top ten.

probably because kids love rondo and other jersey buying fans already have a pierce jersey (they had 13 years to buy one)

  • It's all about the TEAM!
Last year we were shocked when Perkins got traded even though we knew the deadline was upon us, we were miffed when Perkins was sent packing and we've been crying about it ever since.

This year, we seem much more prepared for a major shakeup of some magnitude and I still feel like once it goes down, no matter how good or bad it turns out, there is going to be some crying going on about it.

I'm ready for a big change but I can certainly tell you I will get a bit emotional if any of the big 3 go.  Even if it does make us a better team. :'(

Sorry, but I don't believe it.  We have worked out the scenarios over and over again.  Nothing adds up.

Rondo is the best (overall) player on the team.  He is also the youngest all-star we have.  If we trade him, we must get either an all-star or a high 1st round pick back.  Anything less would be a disaster.  Steph Curry included.

KG is playing the best basketball of anyone on the team.  We all talk about how Ray or even PP would be a good addition to a contender, but KG could take a 6th seed and turn them into favorites right away.  You know, like he did for us.  But he makes $21 million, meaning we would have to take on some god awful contract to make a trade work with him.  I am confident that will NOT happen.

PP is going to retire a Celtic.  He is playing like crap right now too so his trade value is actually going down.  He might be hurt.  But he is going to retire a Celtic.

I have previously mentioned that Ray is the best "value" of the Big 4 in terms of trade, because he is a 36 y.o. SG and if you trade a 36 y.o. SG for a 1st round pick or a young talent that's typically a steal.  Plus we could always resign him in the offseason (KG I am not so sure about.)

That leaves J.O,'s expiring deal, Bass, picks, and our young guys.  I am sorry but unless I am blown away Avery Bradley is untouchable.  JJJ is tradeable but I am very hesitant to move him for someone like Beasley.  Moore is expendable.  I'd prefer to keep our 1st round picks but we have 2 this year so one can be moved.

As someone mentioned in another thread, Bass is the most logical trade piece.  He probably won't be extended next year so this fits the "Perkins Corollary" of Trades: do not let guys walk away because you dont want to pay them - trade them and get value back.  There is the player option with Bass but we have no idea if he takes that or not.

If any trades are made, I'd like to see them made with J.O., Bass, maybe JJJ, Moore, a 2012 1st rounder, and maybe some future picks.  You could talk me into Ray if we were in true blowup mode.

So kids don't count as fans? Don't get me wrong - I have a Pierce jersey myself ( ;D) - but this is the only way, you can somewhat measure a guy's popularity.
