Bass eliminates any need for him whatsoever.
Completely agree

How does an undersized career backup PF eliminate any need for a highly skilled explosive scoring combo forward?

He's in the last year of his contract how is this anything but a move for this year. If you can do it for dirt cheap like for JO than why not?

This team needs a shake up. Bass has also been injures for a couple weeks now and Beasley gives you better rebounding and a lot more versatility on offense. Bass is not exactly a "scorer" off the bench. He is a good shooter that can knock down shots but he is pretty limited offensively

I don't consider Beasley a combo forward. I consider him an undersized PF.

In terms of future potential, there is a considerable difference there in Beasley's favour.

However, in terms of current ability and value to the Celtics this season, I do not think Beasley provides anything more valuable than what Bass brings to the table.

With guys like Beasley and Blatche, who are clearly talented and can contribute on the court, the only question is what you have to give up to get them.  Beasley could be probably be gotten for JO and E'Twaun and Boston can simply not give him a qualifying offer if they don't like him.  Even if you could get Blatche for JO and E'T, he's got three more years on his contract after this one.

Beasley is more talented and motivated than Blatche is, imho.  This is the kind of low-risk/high-reward move that needs to be made.

i agree and Beasley is in the last year of his contract (unlike Blatche)

Beasley would fill the role that J Green was suppose to take this year. If things work out then we sign him to a contract this summer if not he walks and no harm done (as long as we don't use any long term assets to get him)

TP. I know that people can't stand Beasley on this board and think that he's a cancer, etc.  However, the guy can flat-out score in bunches, and along with Rondo and Pierce gives us another player who can get his own shot (when things break down).  Not sure about anyone else, but I'm tired of watching games where we score 13 or 14 pts in a quarter.  It's downright embarrassing.  This is a move that Danny can and should make.  Beasley, Ridnour, and see if Kahn is dumb enough to include Randolph too.  Send them JO, Wilcox, Bradley, and the Clips pick.  We also might need to throw in Sasha or Marquis to make the salaries match.

Brandon Bass cannot create off the dribble like Beasley can or get his own shot.  They are very different players.  Beasley also shoots the deep ball well too, Bass does not.  I would also agree that Beasley is a combo forward, not an undersized PF.  He has all of the skills to be a 3.

Or could Beasley be a this-year solution should The Captain or KG get traded?

I'd say that's because the more efficient player up until this point, and the guy with less headaches, less drama, is Brandon Bass.

I'm not excited about it but it sounds like EXACTLY the kind of guy Ainge goes after

highly talented but low value due to some issues - trust the rest of the veteran roster to get him in line

would the timberlwolves do this?

beasley, wes johnson, and derrick williams for ray allen and jermaine oneal?

right now johnson is a bust and beasley is a headcase but they could turn it around in boston.
Pick 2 Heat:
Pg: Jennings/Vasquez
Sg: Wade/R. Allen/Rivers
SF: Lebron/M. Williams
PF: Bosh/Humphries
C: B. Lopez/Dalembert/Anthony

Efficiency aside for a second, you cannot deny that they are very different players.  When Pierce goes to the bench, we really do not have a true backup 3 on the offensive side of the ball.  Pietrus can guard 3's, but all he does on O is camp out at the 3-point line.  Beasley can take people off the dribble, post-up, and can stick both the mid-range and 3-point shots.

unfortunately he's not just low value because of a bad attitude.  he's also incredibly inefficient and a terrible defender.
