  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Say Bosh for a decent center and point (Gortat + Frye/Morris or something like that?)

Or maybe Wade for a super deal that gives you depth at every position?

No. I would not trade one of them for bench help. I would trade one of them for a more complimentary starter. I don't think diluting talent is a good idea if you are trying to win it all.

Also, wouldn't Gortat start for the Heat?

There's an absolute monstrous trade that I would consider making, if I were Miami.

I'd trade LeBron or Wade for Dwight Howard (with Howard immediately signing an extension).

Dwight+Lebron (or Dwight+Wade) makes a helluva lot more sense than Lebron+Wade.

Ideally, you'd offer up Bosh, but I'm not sure Orlando would do that.  They sure as hell won't get a better off than Wade, though!

I posted a thread awhile ago when I indicated that Miami should trade Wade as I think Lebron defers too much to Wade.  If Wade wasn't around it would be Lebron's team and that is what you want.  I don't know if Orlando would trade Howard to Miami, but Wade would seemingly be the best offer they could get for him.  Other trades that I think might be worthwhile for Miami and that the other team would realistically do - Wade to New Jersey for Williams and a draft pick (or two), Wade to Memphis for Gasol and Conley, Wade and Chalmers/Cole to Indiana for Hibbert, George, and Collison, Wade and Chalmers/Cole to Houston for Lowry, Martin, and Hill, etc.  I didn't check the salaries and other pieces and draft picks could certainly be included, but those are the types of trades I think would make Miami virtually unbeatable.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I'll throw out this idea for a summer blockbuster trade if Miami fails to win a title.  Dwayne Wade and Mario Chalmers for Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen (sign-and-trade).  Some draft picks may also change hands, but I am not sure what is fair.

Would you do it if you are Miami?  Would you do it if you are Boston?  If not, what sort of draft pick package would tip the balance and make you do it?

Dwyane Wade is a top 5 player in the NBA.  I would absolutely not consider trading him for Rondo.  I wouldn't trade Chalmers for Ray, either

To answer the thread's title, if I were the Heat, I would definitely not consider trading one of the Big 3.  They're already a dominant regular season team, and their goal is to have success in the post-season.  In the post-season, the strength of  your top 3 matters, not so much your depth.

The only thing they are really lacking is a decent centre. Their bench really isnt that bad at all and I think Pat Riley and the organisation has done a fantastic job of putting together a pretty decent bench with role players. Haslem is a great rebounder and fills a defensive role, Miller can knock down a 3 and score when he wants and they also have James Jones. Battier the same. Norris Cole has been a fantastic pick up. All they need to do is somehow get rid of the C scrubs they have (how the hell is eddy curry still playing) and get a semi decent C that adds a present in the paint.

even Kwame Brown would be a solid upgrade for them.

I wouldn't make a single big trade right now (unless Wade for Howard was on the table)

Smaller trades, yes.

Big trade?  No.  Which good team right now has an offensive C?  They are playing good defense and good offense.

Do you think a bad post-season (let's imagine the scenario the Celtics have a miracle first round upset of the Heat that has the team's stars publicly doubting themselves) would lead the team to do something you would not consider?

I would trade DWade if they got 2 starters and a young player on return. For example

How about this 3 team trade? Since your topic was looking to see if the Heat would do it for a better (deeper) bench.

yes, i would.

i'd trade Lebron for a whole slew of very good role players to compliment Wade and Bosh because:

1) Lebron would bring the most bounty

2) Wade and Bosh would probably compliment each other more effectively than Lebron/Wade or Lebron/Bosh

3) Wade is a proven champion - he possesses the needed intangible that is more important than pure talent

4) i maintain that there is a basic flaw in Lebron's championship DNA - just something missing with that guy - he is the perimeter version of Wilt Chamberlain

bad deal for Miami IMO.  from  a talent perspective, they come out ahead but I don't think this does anything to make them better.  They give up the best player in Bosh and bring in Kaman who will provide less of what Bosh provides and is much older/injury prone and 2 backup wings.  Even though they'd be terrific wings to bring off the bench, there's no way Wade and Bron aren't on the court for 40 minutes in a playoff game so great backups aren't such a big deal.  They'd need to bring in players that improve their weakspots, C and PG.  If anything, move Wade or Bron since they're almost duplicative in talents.  Keep Bosh who provides something they don't.
