Imagine if Gerald Green just went to college for an attitude adjustment along with the coaching he really was lacking in 2005. The kid is now 26 and has done nothing but waste his potential up to this point.

I would argue that Gerald is still a better player then all the rookies of similar talent.

I'd like to see Gerald turn his career around and be an NBA Player... i'm just not betting on it.

Absolutely.  He never seemed like a bad kid.
Yup

And a fact for the people who poo-poo the D-Leaguers, 96% yes 96 % of their All Stars stick on NBA rosters. So their is a 96% chance I won't have to defend Gerald Green's good play much longer. He'll make alot of detractors eat their unworthy words...... and Ed im 37 myself so there is not much difference there..... and Gerald is not wasting his talents he is showcasing them, wasting them would be working at a gas station (not demeaning those who may) or abusing drugs! Chris Herron wasted talent! Gerald is striving to maximize his potential and leading a 1st place LA Defenders team who took off since he was inserted as a starter. He is a very good player & I haven't heard 1 peep from the D League this year saying he is a bad teammate or doesn't work on his craft. The kid loved being a Celtic which I like & was distraught when he got traded. Remember the Minny Photo's afterwards. He looked like he got sentenced to a 10 yr. Prison bid! Lol so Im in GG's corner.

Where are you getting that figure from?  And what's your definition of "stick on NBA rosters"?

Here are last year's D-League all-star rosters:

Quote
Selected to the NBA D-League All-Star East Team were Chris Johnson (Dakota Wizards), Ivan Johnson and Garrett Temple (Erie BayHawks), Walker Russell Jr. (Fort Wayne Mad Ants), Othyus Jeffers, Courtney Sims and Curtis Stinson (Iowa Energy), DeShawn Sims (Maine Red Claws), Patrick Ewing Jr. and Dexter Pittman (Sioux Falls Skyforce).

Chosen to the NBA D-League All-Star West Team, playing host to the East Team in Los Angeles, were Marcus Cousin (Austin Toros), Trey Johnson (Bakersfield Jam), Shane Edwards (New Mexico Thunderbirds), Jeff Adrien and Mustafa Shakur (Rio Grande Valley Vipers), Joe Alexander and Sean Williams (Texas Legends), Larry Owens and Zabian Dowdell (Tulsa 66ers) and Orien Greene (Utah Flash).

Can you tell me what NBA rosters 96% of those guys are currently stuck on?

Its Ok to support the not that kid anymore
To Maximize his potential hes on his last couple of years
just about to enter his "prime"

I am sure he loved being a celtic.
And I support him as long as he was here, even if i pointed from day one he wasnt ready for this league
I thought Europe could help him but 1.8 assists a game?
when i think on GG Black hole is all i can think about

Again hes really not a good basketball player, hes an avobe average scorer and thats it.

he can work on his craft but he should learn how to reinforce his oportunity areas as in defense and passing. after 6 years I am still waiting on that

The DL didn't start last year, plus I'm just going off of what Rick Hamla said on the NBA telecast of the All Star game. So I would think he knows a little more about the DLeague history than me or you. So I'm just going off of his words.

D-League is in its 12th season.  That means 240 guys have made the All Star game. Let's call it 200 applying for potential repeats by the same guy.

192 of those guys have stuck around the NBA?

That would be something like a third of all players who have played in the NBA in that period.

Yup

edgar I'm glad you are not a Celtic gm or any for that matter (not a personal attack) lol because you would be limiting your resources. If you can only see negative in players & not be able to process the good, you would be a questionable one. Tracy McGrady was lack luster & did alot of things wrong his entire career in Toronto. Kobe was a turnover machine & gunner for 2yrs before he turned a serious corner his 3rd year. Kendrick Perkins was PUKE worthy for about 3 in our uniform but he gets a pass because he wasn't traded. Lou Williams 76ers is barely finding his niche (hired gun no D). Sometimes it just takes patience & less pressure from us to let these guys settle from a maturity standpoint before these guys blossom. I personally think we gave up on Gerald FAR TOO EARLY & Minnesota didn't draft him & the needed production right away to validate the Garnett move. All in all like in life good things come to those that wait! I wasn't a great man at 19-22, but I was a darn good 1 at 27. High Schoolers coming into the league are fundamentally flawed & it takes at least 3-4 years to get it all together. (Lebron withstanding)

This caught my eye, so I've been going back through the years, and I think Rick Kamla is wrong here.

Then, if you take off the guys who are still with the original team that drafted them but were sent down for some 'seasoning', it gets even worse.

Gerald is pyrite aka fool's gold.  He is shiny and flashy but worth nothing on the court.

I think it's too early to rule Gerald Green out. Legitimate size with high level athleticism and very good jump-shooting ability is a nice package to work with.

That said, I am very doubtful that he is ready to return to the NBA just yet given the teams he played for in Europe and China. The lack of quality offers he received over there says a lot to me about where his overall game is and how far it still needs to go before he is ready for a return.

Worth keeping an eye on long term. (Sadly) No interest short term.

Congrats to Mr. Potential.

Too bad its the NBDL All Star game and not the NBA version.  Then I might've actually been impressed.

G-Money was a good high school player who should have went to college. His basketball IQ will always keep him from being more than an NBA end of the rotation player at best.

and even if a lot of information is put there you wont be able to use it/ remember
