Don't worry, both are here to stay.  I'm curious, though, which of the two you prefer, and why?  Are there things that one of them does well, that the other should adopt?

I like both, but I think I lean toward Pick 2.  I think the lack of competition is nice and makes for a more relaxed atmosphere.  I also like that you start with the core of an existing franchise, and reshape it.  I think it's fun talking about changing existing teams (i.e., turning around the Raptors, rather than just getting assigned a random team that has no connection to the real Raptors).

Thoughts?

Pick 2 = My enjoyment comes from the draft and seeing how people put together their teams and then talking about them. I don't really like the press conferences or the playoff parts from the summer's version.

I like the CB Draft because you start from scratch but would prefer that format without the voting and competitive stuff involved. Not crazy about the Pick 2 format of keeping two players and building from there.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
I prefer the Pick 2 for the lack of propaganda and drama. People are more likely to treat that like a friendly game and joke more and that's the environment I like better. Plus it's less work, and while I like a good work distraction, I feel way better about being late for a pick in the Pick 2 than the CB Draft.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I love the competitive aspect of the CB Draft. I think it's great when people rally get into it and show their passion for their squad. I haven't played pick 2, but I really enjoyed the CB Draft.

I love aspects of both, but I think I lean towards P2, because I love remolding an established chemistry, and trying to improve on a proven (or not) core. A bit more fun, and a bit less ... edge. Have to say, though, the CB Historical Draft was easily my favorite to this point, though I'm a novice at this fantasy stuff.

Of all the drafts I've done on here, the most fun I've had has actually been with the historical drafts.

I've never done the Pick Two draft so can't really comment on that.  The CB draft is a drama queen's dream.

I for one love the CB draft, I like starting fresh rather than the 2 players.  I also like the snake format

CB Draft. Pick 2 is more laid back, but CB Draft is more rewarding when you do something well.

CB Draft is a legitimate team-building exercise (not team as in us as a community either, team as in you build an actual team) with peer-review and concrete winners. (I don't think there are however concrete losers...more like 'non-winners'. Everyone but mgent is a non-winner.)

I'm a competitive guy, and I find it more rewarding, and it ultimately helped me find my voice here on Celticsblog.

And it really helps your basketball knowledge, and you confidence in your own basketball knowledge. Want proof? Look at Bahku flashing his teeth a little defending his team in the 'Hows my pick-2' thread. His first draft was Nick's historic draft, then the pick-2, then the real deal. By the time he was done with the CB Draft I think he was much more assertive in expressing his views and tempering his portrayal of his team, and knew what he was talking about.

Not to call him out or anything, just a guy we're all familiar with. Pick-2 is more fun, but the CB Draft is a more rewarding experience.

Look, alls I'm sayin is that a frontcourt of Yao Ming and Pau Gasol just cannot lose. This is gonna be his year!

Ha...I loved that team!

Don't think I drafted a US born player until Rd 10 or something that year.  Went the international route nearly all the way.

Prefer the Historical, but the Pick Two isn't bad at all.

Pick Two is certainly the hardest, though...a lot of strategy is involved.

It is my first year being involved in both drafts and I honestly can say I enjoyed both.

I would say this. I like the CB Draft because it starts from scratch. The anticipation is there and it's strategy all the way, unlike in Pick 2 where you basically have your core to work with already and do some adjustments later.

I do like how the Pick 2 is laid back. No press conferences just pick the team let the others comment on how your team looks.

But I'd still prefer the CB Draft. For some reason it's just more intense for me. I love the fact that we vote for the playoff teams. Love that EVERYBODY is available from the start, meaning one really wrong move (which I did a lot) could potentially end your run.

Whenever we do the CB draft this year again, sign me up please.

It's fun as heck.  I love building historical rosters and guessing how things would mesh.
