why seeding isnt important this season

if we finish 7th or 8th we;ll face chicago or miami ,

alot of people say things like "we need the 6th seed to compete" yada yada

but in all actuality if we cant be the heat or bulls regardless we wont get out the east ,i find it better just making the playoffs & seeing where we stand right away , cuz if IF we do get past one of those teams that'll bode GREAT going foward in the postseason

I would love to see us make some miracle run and grab the 6th seed.
But realistically we can't beat Miami or Chicago in 7 games at this point- perhaps Chicago if Deng or Rose cannot play at all.

I would rather just cruise to the 8th seed. Why?

1) Rest everyone once we know it's locked up. KG, Paul, Ray, Bass, JO, Pietrus. Even Rondo. Let them heal, work out in the practice gym and basically practice and get ready for the playoffs with some new sets, rebounding practice, hone in their 3 point shooting etc..Seriously wit about 10-15 games left we should know if we are a lock, and Cleveland without Verajao and the Bucks without Bogut aren't really going to threaten. Let the Knicks, Pacers and Philly all exhaust themselves trying to get the 6th seed so they are nice and plump if we somehow get a shot at one of them.

2) We could get as high as the 14th-15th pick if we finish 8th.
A few spots can mean a lot of difference in the middle of the first round in a deep draft like this one. The later first round, meh, it's always hard to predict who's going over achieve and a few spots isn't as important.

Get to the playoffs with a healthy squad. Hope to dear baby jesus that Ray and Dooling and Paul and Pietrus all shoot the lights out from outside, and that Wilcox, Bass and Pietrus can give us a combined 30-35 ppg off the bench.
Oh, and Rondo can hit a consistent jumper for at least 3 of 7 games. I know what Pierce and KG are going to bring every night.

They are fighters and come playoff time it's going to be a different mentality altogether.

Yeah it is a dang huge reach that we may not be in the lottery.   We have age issues, health issues, rebounding issues and can't score at times.

I actually wouldnt mind seeing the Heat or Bulls earlier.

We would be more under the radar. Play the underdog card a little more.

I don't know where all the negativity comes from. Sure we haven't been playing good right now, but we have shown flashes. This season could very easily turn out like 2010

We've seen Ray shoot lights out. We've seen Pierce carry the team for two weeks straight, looking like one of the best players in the league. KG has come up huge for us many games this year. His athleticism looks good (a lot more strong dunks and lateral movement). These guys aren't done yet. Maybe they can't do it every night, but they can still do it.

We are only 3 games out of 1st in the Atlantic. We have three to play against Philly and two more against New York. We can still nab HCA for the first round by winning our division. The Knicks are playing well right the past few weeks, but I don't expect Lin to continue what he has been doing and simply put, they haven't been very good with Carmelo. The Sixers are coming back down to Earth. The division is up for grabs, and so is the 3rd/4th seed.

If we don't get it, I have no problem going in at any seed. We are going to have to have to go through both Chicago and Miami in all likelihood. Why not split them up by finishing 7th, facing the 2, then 3/6 winner, then the 1? If we aren't good enough by then to beat those two teams, what's the big deal if it's the first- or second-round? But if we are good enough, a break between them (by facing someone like Orlando or the Knicks or Pacers) may be beneficial.

The only participants who think seeding isn't important are the ones who are just trying to get into the playoffs. 

I guaranty that any team that isn't just glad to be there cares about where they're seeded.
