Pick 2 Miami Heat:
PG:Nash
SG: Wade
SF:Granger
PF: Favors
C: Gortat

Bench: Haslem. Mozgov. Livingston. The Jones Brothers James and Dahntay. Ben Wallace.

Gave my opinion on this team in the now defunct Discussion Thread but to summarize, I think this is one of the best teams in this Draft but think that Favors isn't close to being ready for starting minutes and might be years away from reaching the potential he occasionally flashes. I would worry about Nash's defense against teams with fast PGs or a set of big tall guards.

A good team, but a step down from what it could be had you not traded Lebron.

Wade and Lebron have figured out how to play with each other.

What is the learning curve between Nash and Wade?  Can Wade be as effective without the ball?  Is Miami going to be as good with the reduction of defense?

Here we go, I'll comment on others later tonight:

PG - Jrue Holiday, Baron Davis, Beno Udrih
SG - Ronnie Brewer, OJ Mayo (Holiday, Udrih, Johnson)
SF - Joe Johnson, Tracy McGrady (Brewer)
PF - Amar'e Stoudemire, Ryan Anderson
C - Kurt Thomas, Nikola Vucevic, Cole Aldrich

Love the versatility. 1-4 I think I have an argument for the best team in the league, with one of the best perimeter defenses. The 5 is an obvious question-mark, but I think I picked the right type of players and Vucevic has been killing it lately.

I probably overpaid for Johnson and undersold for Howard to start the game but I think I rebounded decently enough.

Interested in hearing thoughts and what I should've done differently, I've still got 10.6 left.
As I commented before, this is a very good team but will need to play player's long term in areas they aren't accustomed to playing in long term, to maximize the overall effectiveness of the team.

I also am not a big fan of the defensive abilities of Amare, Anderson, McGrady, Aldrich, or Davis. You'll have to get into a scoring dogfight to beat the best teams and I think ultimately lose and end up a notch or two below the best teams(I'm thinking NY, Miami, SA when I say this)

You know hwat, let me finally throw my team on the ole choppin block

Jennings / Barea
P. George /
W. Chandler / Pietrus
D. Williams / Villanueva/ Maxiell
T Chandler/ Biyombo

I think we can give teams fits. It's not just a strong defense, but a really, really fast one and I absolutely love the length we have on the wings. As good as the 6ers are in getting into transition through their defense, I think this team could be even better.

Offensively, at least at this point, I think we kinda come and go with Brandon Jennings. Chandler's a strong scorer, P. George is a good shooter but inconsistent when it comes to creating his own offense and Derrick Williams is... weird... offensively. I like Jennings a lot, and would be interested to see how he'd perform with a lot more firepower around him, but I have some concerns about him being really the only creator on this team.

In the future I feel strong about this team, even if some of the younger players fall somewhere between where they are and their potential I think there's enough here that we could be a serious competitor 2 to 3 years down the line.

The only big on your entire roster I like is Chandler. Williams is struggling and not sure what he is, Biyombo is sooooo raw and bad offensively its ridiculous, Maxiell is so over rated in my book and then there's Charlie V. Yikes!!!

I love the rest of your team but as people have been want to point out with our team, Chandler isn't here yet and that has to be a big problem. when you have a started slotted that is still in China.

Thanks for the input Nick. Small disagreement, I think at this point people are back to rating Maxiell properly - I got him with the last pick of the 10th, which is really the 12th pick. I think because he fell so short of expectations, that at this point he's more underrated than overrated. Still, not a big piece of the puzzle.

San Antonio Spurs

PG - Tony Parker, Roddy Beaubois
SG - Manu Ginobili, Randy Foye, Alec Burks
SF - Richard Jefferson, Gordon Hayward
PF - Chris Bosh, Chris Wilcox
C  - Tim Duncan, Robin Lopez

I would start Gordon Hayward and bring Manu Ginobili off the bench.

Edit: I also think your squad could really benefit from a Derrick Brown type on your bench. Someone who can defend and rebound the quick forward position at an above average level since Gordon Hayward can do neither and Richard Jefferson can only do one of the two things. It'd be nice to have that contrast in skill-sets off your bench. That is what I'd be looking to pickup in the final round.

How is my pick 2 team?

Starters:

Andre Miller
Kevin Martin
Danilo Gallinari
Ekpe Udoh
Spencer Hawes

Bench:

@DrayBlatche
Aaron Brooks
Kawhi Leonard
Jordan Crawford
Terrence Williams

Re-inserted Miller and Udoh to the starting unit to have some firepower in the bench. Brooks plays more minutes. @DrayBlatche will get #Starter minutes but comes off the bench to have some defense in the starting unit.
You have some nice parts and got some good value in your late round picks.

Personally I would NEVER have drafted Blatche as he is bad for the rest of the young guys on that team you want to develop.

Sorry to say but this team isn't close to being as good as the NBA Sixers. What I would do is in the future, get a co-GM and bounce trade ideas off each other. You have a clear eye for talent but the negotiating skills need refining.

Also, never listen to what others are saying about your team while making it. Second guessing will kill you.

Some funny mod move this from there to here....

P.G. Jameer Nelson /    Raymon Felton
S.G. Delonte West /     Stephen Jackson
S.F. Paul Pierce /      Ron Artest
P.F. Kevin Garnett /    Tyrus Thomas
C.   Anderson Varejao / Shelden Williams

to be hones this team is one big center of becoming championship material.

I will play GM and take Delonte to starting lineup with Jameer

Can you see the defense in that second unit, I willl play something with other alternative lineups too

P.G. Jameer Nelson /    Raymon Felton   /   Delonte
S.G. Delonte West /     Stephen Jackson  /  Jackson
S.F. Paul Pierce /      Ron Artest       /  Pierce
P.F. Kevin Garnett /    Tyrus Thomas     /  Artest
C.   Anderson Varejao / Shelden Williams /  Varejao

I beleive this team can be champion in the actual NBA.
for real.

Playoff team but with AV and DWest hurt this team becomes old and injured and much like the real Celtics, will struggle.

Funny enough I don't think you improved the team but I also do think you made them any worse.

Yeah, I have a hard time answering whether the Fake Celtics are better than the Real Celtics.

I guess ultimately, I go Fake.  Our current offense is broke, so it's hard to imagine it getting too much worse in Edgar's universe.  Meanwhile, I think the defense and rebounding would be improved, especially when Felton is in instead of Jameer (although Jameer is rating out pretty well defensively this year).

So, the team might continue to have a stagnant offense, but with improved rebounding and arguably an even better defense, this team could get back to elite status if it enters the playoffs rested and healthy.

I agree with this.

I would never have traded LeBron and I question just how effective Nash's strengths will be when mitigated by Wade's need for the ball in his hands.

C - Marc Gasol/Joel Anthony
PF - David West/Nick Collison/Donte Green
SF - Rudy Gay/Donte Green
SG - Mike Miller/Michael Redd/Von Wafer
PG - Jason Kidd/C.J. Watson

I'm considering a mid-level trade that I had in mind, but before I proceed down that road any thoughts about my team?

Whatever you do, don't trade, Gasol, Gay, or West.

I'll agree with most of that, but I actually think my defense overall is pretty good. Outside of the PF position, Jrue, Brewer, Mayo, Johnson, McGrady have all proven to be plus defenders this year, an din general. Thomas and Vucevic are solid but will struggle with elite power/talent. Davis is good when he tries, but I'm not too worried about him or Aldrich because of their low minutes.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger

I would keep Mike Miller as my main backup wing.

I'd be tempted to start Von Wafer ahead of Michael Redd and have Von Wafer defend the point while Jason Kidd takes opposing two guards.

Hits a critical point. Jason Kidd can't defend most PG's. I'm not sure Wafer can either, but he's likely to have a better time of it than Kidd.
