Maybe someone should break into his office and do that?

Or trade JO for a sack of potatoes with a 5 year 6 mil contract?

God why does Doc love playing him so much. I hate sounding like a broken record but...for anything more than 10 minutes, JO sucks.

We can't use the amnesty on JO, it must be used at the begining of the league year. If we had amnestied him however, we wouldn't have been able to do much more than perhaps pay Chris Wilcox more (even that's doubtful). And that's assuming we knew about Jeff Green that early which I can't recall.

Anyways he expires at the end of this year anyways.

The amnesty is for if we can't find a contender to take Paul Pierce's contract.

Please watch Jermaine on defense.
He's really not as horrible as people say he is here.
He plays his heart out and has more blocks and charges than anyone on our team.

Why use our one amnesty on a guy who expires at the end of the season and only costs 6 million?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Because it's not CelticsBlog if we're not hating on the old guys and wondering why the young guys aren't playing.  ::)

If you are not going to bother watching the games, then you might at least check the stats before you post.  JO has been amazing on defense.  His blocks and charges constantly erase people beating our guards.  He's not been any less healthy than any other Celtic this year as every single Celtic have already missed games this year.  His shooting has been poor, but he can still finish quicker than Perk, Shaq, KG or Davis.

Initially, I thought thought this post was going to suggest calling on Fat Eddie to "amnesty" JO.

Glad things haven't gotten that bad.  Boston fans are a tough crowd in more ways than one!

As bad as JO is, we need him.

That fact is exactly why this team is as bad as it is.

Are we looking to save the owner money now?

I would argue to the contrary. He is no longer NBA caliber.
Time to cut the cord.

This is crazy!  JO has some of the best rotational defense out of the center position in the league.  He plays good man on man defense on the block and he has been covering the pick and roll a whole lot better than Shaq did last year.  I would argue that he is as good defensively as Perk was for us.

JO is a part time NBA player.

Unfortunately, the Celtics need more out of him and he can not longer stay at that level for the amount of time needed.

But, there is no point to waiving him right now.  Doesn't give the Celtics cap space to make a move.  Doesn't replace JO with a better starting C or depth.

I would argue that he is still at a level where he would be an above-average back-up center.  Jermaine O'Neal for the minimum next season behind a solid center who can be counted on for 30 mpg would not be a horrible roster idea.
