Having KG, Bass, and Rondo certainly would have made a difference.

But we've seen this team with all three of those guys, and it hasn't been much better on the boards, or scoring inside, or really scoring in general.

It's a seriously, deeply flawed team; the fact that it doesn't have much in the way of depth even though the starting lineup is ancient just makes it worse.
And yet a team that averages 95 PPG scored 89 with 5 of their top 11 rotation players out of the lineup.

Gotta think that if all those guys were around, regardless of how they have been at various time this year, key word various, that this Dallas team would have been beaten tonight because they played poorly except Dirk who played great without KG on him.

They were up 20 for most of the game. Teams tend to play "poorly" in that type of situation, especially in a season like this.

You absolutely can't take anything out of this game tonight other than the Celts have a Bunch of injury prone players. However, I didn't need tonight to tell me this team would be better off in the lottery. Hope Rondo enjoyed watching the game from his hotel room.

In a lot of ways, this makes a ton of sense.

But in some ways, its the way you say this that makes all the difference in the world.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Would have been a completely different game with all those players you mentioned. What have you been smoking? Imagine playing with our full squad, whilst dallas played without dirk, haywood and Jason terry. How cynical are some people? They still played tough and dirk was just on fire.

Ugly game but to say it would not have been any different is laughable.

Read that last line again. One more time.

We've got 'ways' coming out of our ears, it seems.

Uh, if those 5 players only added 6 additional points to the Celtics' score, I don't think that would have made a difference.  It only highlights how dysfunctional the Boston offense is that it's only marginally better at full strength than it was with last night's depleted squad.

Not sure what this means, but I think I like it. Giving you a TP for this!

The Celtics and Mavericks played one other time this season. January 11th in Boston. The Celts had KG and Brandon Bass playing that night.

Anyone care to inform me on what the outcome of that game was?

After that, let me know if you still think last night had to do with "who wasn't playing."

As long as NY and Milwaukee lose when we lose we are OK

Disagree. This team needs to not make the playoffs this year.

If this is all about rebuilding, what difference will being the 1st or 2nd team outta the playoffs? If we're not gonna be in the lottery, we may as well get the young guys playoff experience.

Either way, I think the C's will probably have to earn their way into the playoffs. They're a team that only doesn't need the playoffs if they really don't deserve it. There's no reason for the Celtics to be out of the playoffs if they earn a playoff spot, even if that's the 8th spot. At least there's a chance, 1%, 0.1%, what have you, that make even noise, let alone a championship. They can't do that if they don't make the playoffs, and I doubt they'll be so bad as to get a meaningful draft pick such as in the lottery.
