Allen Iverson last averaged 14-4 as a cancer playing 30 minutes for losing Detroit and Memphis teams in 09-10. He did not make their record any better by being there. The Memphis franchise immediately improved upon his dismissal.
Expecting him to take a year and a half off, return at 36, play less minutes on a better team that already has Rondo and Ray, and somehow score more points and tally more assists is wildly optimistic.
Also, we are near the tops in the league in FG% and our small man rotation of Rondo, Ray, Bradley, Moore, Dooling, Pierce, Pietrus is just fine. We are near the bottom of the league in rebounding, we need athletic young big men.
If Iverson got more athletic and gained about a foot in height over the last year, I say go for it. If he is still 6'0, what problem does he solve exactly?
Please no more nostalgia pushes. Iverson and Arenas are out of the league for a reason.
Can anyone name a single time where a former star was on the waiver wire for a long time with no team interested and came back to make an impact? A single time?
I say our new lineup should be Magic, Jordan, Larry, Malone, Olajuwon.
