At least he admits that they have serious issues. The captain doesn't seem to want to admit that. JO says they should never lose twice in one week to the pistons, and that they can't back into the playoffs or else they will be out in the first round, which is what a lot of us have been saying. Pierce sounds like he's in denial.

I'm actually surprised that KG, Pierce, and Ray have not gotten the team together to say, heck, this is our last year together, let's go out in style our way, giving it our best shot. Instead they look like they have no leadership or desire out there.

Will that be before the suffleboard game, or after the mid-afternoon nap?

The only meeting JO should be calling for is with his retirement investment advisor.

In that case, Pierce, KG and Ray should join him for shuffleboard. Pierce played well enough to get into the all-star game and then parked himself in neutral. KG just doesn't have it anymore and looks like an angry old man out there. Ray is a turnover machine who depends on Rondo for his shots.

Pierce might have gardnered a legacy invite to the ASG.  No other Celtic is really at that AS level, and it might seem that someone on the squad should make it.

But it is a bit weird to hear this from JO, when supposedly Pierce and KG are the locker room leaders.

It also suggests they're not really tuned in to Doc as well.

Not much time in a season like this to turn things around.

I wonder if KG's family matter is to specifically discuss his retirement plan. I just don't see the same KG that I used to know. Perhaps he is gonna leave 10 million on the table so Wyckie can avoid the luxery tax. JO recognizes the problem. Unfortunately, I see it as a power struggle centered around Rondo. I was hoping for a Rondo, Ray Allen and Jermaine O'Neal trade for Steve Nash, Jared Dudley, and Marcin Gortat with Phoenix before the season started. Now I think Phoenix will reject that deal.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Nice. Maybe he can address his inability to rebound in this meeting.

I think part of it is a power struggle with Rondo. Pierce played great with him out, and sucks with Rondo back now. The big three just don't work well with Rondo anymore. Ainge saw this coming but couldn't pull off the CP3 trade. Some type of move needs to be made.

Eventually out top players will just not be good enough anymore to win and we will be here trying to come up with excuses to believe they are actually good enough but we are just not playing our best. Hopefully we are not already at this point.

If we are, we should remember that there are lottery teams that can put it all together for one night to beat the best teams in the league once in a while. No single victory should get us too excited. We should also remember that 8th seeds have about a .500 record, which means they are pretty mediocre and frustrating if you have high expectations.

I find the idea that willpower and effort should be blamed for losses to be asinine romanticism. Willpower and effort may more often than not be the dependent variables, not the independent variables, or they may be a fabrication in our heads. It doesn't matter how many team meetings the New Orleans has -- they will still be a bad team. It doesn't matter if they try their hardest -- they just aren't good enough.

Pierce may have a point that without KG, Bass, and only 1/2 Rondo, we just aren't good enough so that game tells us nothing about the need for a meeting. Such a meeting needs to be after a game where everyone is there and not reasonable justifications (that may in fact be correct) are lingering in everyone's heads after a loss.
