but the Bucks are breathing down our necks for that #8 spot!

With our upcoming schedule looking like a disaster, what most were saying about it being impossible not to make the playoffs because of the weak east, may be taking shape, even before the allstar break!

Dynamite, please! Hand me that big TANK! See you in June for the lottery draft order!

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Cmon man, have a bit of faith. We still haven't fielded our full playoff squad with our 8-9 best players in the same game yet.

We just went 9-1, hit a mini slump and lost to the Detroit Pistons who are 7-2 in their last 9 games.

The only way we are missing the playoffs is if Bass remains injured, and even then it's a remote possibility that we don't get at least the 7th seed.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Sorry, no faith left! This team, these players have no heart.

There's a certain type of player, a player that just despises losing, that just tears them apart-----this team doesn't have any of those! Larry Bird, Dave Cowens, Leon Powe, and yes even Brian Scalabrine!  They don't have to be stars.  Just that certain character trait--the one that they'd rip their own mothers throat out to win a game of tiddleywinks!  Our current team is devoid of these kinds of players!  We desperately need them!

KG is/used to be one, but age and injuries prevent him from following thru.  You can see the distant twinkle in his eyes--where he wants to just choke someone to get the win---but just can't do it anymore.

I guess that it's up to DA to put those kind of guys together, but it's hard when you don't have the financial weapons to do it, or the time as in the case this year!

Don't know the answers---DA is in a tough spot!

On the other hand, look for further than the Knicks for how a team can turn things around in a major way.  I mean, Jeremy Lin is obviously better than the experts thought but he's not THAT good.  He's just the right player in the right situation doing the right things to get his team playing well.  Maybe the title window is closed on this group of Celtics but there's no reason they can't be a lot better than they have been so far this year.

Dude, we haven't fielded our best healthy playoff roster in four years.

Go Bucks!

I'd much prefer if the Celtics just punted this season and tried to sink down to the 10th pick in the draft.

That'd be much better than watching them get gleefully demolished by the Heat in April.

it's been good, but after 5 years it's time for a change. We can't contend anymore, it's time for the circus ride of lottery picks & free agency.

I have a nightmare-ish anxiety as well that the C's, even if they make the 8th seed of the playoffs, will get blown out and swept, 2003-2004 style, by 17-18 ppg avg to the Pacers, except this time it'll be the Heat or Bulls. (even if it takes an injury by 1 of our Big 4 for that to happen -- other fans won't notice the difference) The Bulls or Heat will laugh at us in the process. No thanks. If that's the case, Danny Ainge has a responsibility to put this old dog to sleep.

Oh wait, the same Dave Cowens, that walked out on the Celtics in the middle of a season where they were defending their championship? When he 'took a break' from the team and left them high and dry when they were chasing Philly for the top seed in the East? And then, when he came back, the Celtics took Philly to 7 in the ECF, but lost mainly because the game was played in Philly instead of the Garden? That Dave Cowens? Yea, KG is nothing like him, that loser! ::)

I hate saying this, but the reason I rarely have posted on this board over the years is because the quality here is just painful.  Such a far cry from those old ESPN Celtics forums back 10-12 years ago.  You'd never see posts like this, or a forum cluttered with absurd trade proposals there as well.

On a related note, I would love to target Ersan Ilyasova this summer. He would be a great fit for the future celtics imo. The man is rebounding like Dwight Howard, and can also shoot the three.

It is scary to think about our lack of success with such an favorable early schedule of mostly home games with lots of days off. There is a decent chance of us falling back among the wannabes. Hopefully we can remain healthy enough to maintain our position.

We need Bass back.
